Manager of Warehouse and Logistics

Job Summary

Provide strategic and tactical direction for Glanbia Nutritionals domestic logistics. As a key leader of the logistics team this position will manage all inbound and outbound materials and oversee preparation of materials for the Aseptic and Flavor Production facilities.Deliver exceptional customer service and cost effectiveness as defined by key performance indicators by working effectively with teams across the organization.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Establish team s objectives and provide the guidance and coaching necessary to improve its effectiveness and capabilities.
  • Evaluate team talent and jointly develop career planning as appropriate.
  • Work proactively and provide strong communication with the various Glanbia Business Units and their management teams, including Commercial, Customer Service, Production Plants and Finance.
  • Identify focused improvement opportunities and initiate innovative solutions utilizing Glanbia Performance System (GPS) tools. Encourage the development of improvement actions from within the team that drive results and savings.
  • Provide direction and project leadership in system initiatives that enable a more effective utilization of information and resources.
  • Develop and manage an annual budget for the department.
  • Develop and measure performance through complete scorecards that support planning, perfect order fulfillment, accuracy and timeliness of deliveries to production, and inventory reporting to customers.
  • Insure timely responses to customer issues/ complaints consistent with service level agreement.
  • Research and perform root analysis on issues. Work with cross functional team members to respond, mitigate and prevent issues from recurring.
  • Inspection of incoming raw material and completing the corresponded records
  • Oversee all kitting operations to ensure accuracy and timeliness for all materials being delivered to production.
  • Ensure SAP system is properly maintained with accurate inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with other departments on material holds and dispositions
  • Ensure all end of run inventory and reconciliation reports are completed and distributed as required.
  • Ensure all finished goods transactions are done accurately to facilitate accurate invoicing to all customers
  • Ensure transportation provider meets requirements for the transportation of food products and that all raw ingredients are properly handled and stored in conditions that prevent cross contamination.
  • Ensure all incoming raw inventory reporting to customersals and coordinate preparing materials for materials and outgoing finished goods are stored using the correct FIFO procedure and they are stored in the correct warehouse locations (i.e. warehouse/fridge)
  • Perform any other relevant duties and responsibilities defined in company policies and procedures, applicable legislations, or the SQF code
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification & Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university

Experience Required

  • 10 years of related transportation management experience and/or training
  • SAP experience preferred

  • Ability to effectively present information to co-workers, management and those outside the company.

  • Ability to work with amino acids, vitamins and fine chemicals in powder and liquid form as well as allergen products.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and written
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs
  • Computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common reports and information.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Must be able to prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments; and work independently.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, see clearly at 20 inches or closer and 20 feet or more, observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus

  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e. office equipment, light traffic).
  • May be exposed to moderate to high noise levels (i.e. production equipment, forklifts, heavy traffic).
  • May be exposed to humidity, intense heat and cold, outdoor weather conditions, and fumes and toxic chemicals.
  • May work in areas with mechanical moving parts, above ground with risk of fall, or areas with risk of electrical shock.

Travel Requirements

Occasional overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
