  • McCormick & Company, Incorporated , a global leader in flavor, is seeking a Utility Mechanic reporting to a Team Manager . This individual will work at the Hunt Valley Plant located in Hunt Valley, MD .
  • Under the general supervision of Maintenance Leadership, this position will maintain packaging, blending and fermentation equipment in multiple departments and is responsible for completing planner/corrective, predictive and preventative equipment inspection, and improvement and safety work orders to established procedures


DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

  • Under the general supervision of Maintenance/Facilities Leadership, this position will maintain packaging, and processing equipment/components for multiple departments at the HVP. The individual is responsible for maintaining an inventory of rebuilt components to support the site. They will work cross functionally with teams to eliminate unplanned component failures. The area will be organized at all times using visual factory standards.
  • The employee must demonstrate capability to utilize resources to continuously improve personal / individual skill levels as related to core job duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consistently "Meets Standards" for attendance on annual performance review required.
  • "Meets Standards" in overall performance rating in most recent performance review required .
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years maintenance experience on high speed automated, packaging lines with experience rebuilding components and equipment such as pumps, cap chucks, cylinders, , grippers, gearboxes etc. or 3 years in a maintenance function (including industrial maintenance or a millwright)
  • Demonstrated ability to read, navigate and interpret multiple computerized data collection & data entry systems
  • Experience overhauling and rebuilding automated equipment i.e. replacing bearings, shafts and drives using various tools including: drills, saws, grinders, presses, welders, wrenches, metal roller and metal brake
  • Working experience with Preventive and Predictive Maintenance practices especially AM and PM
  • Demonstrated capability to read and interpret Mechanical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, and Electrical Schematics, and engineering and machine diagrams and drawings. Capable of working from blueprints without supervision.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions, use a dial caliper, micrometer, The ability to comprehend interpret instructions from manuals and sketch drawings
  • Demonstrated ability to use logical thinking, independent judgment and be detailed oriented to solve problems. Experience with Root Cause Analysis a plus. Ability to work closely with vendors to solve problems. Work independently with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated experience working safely, effectively and accurately in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills. Shop must be GMP compliant at all times.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams, influence peer to peer relationships.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to business needs including the ability to work overtime if needed
  • Ability to move/lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and on an occasional basis move up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Required to cover for the storeroom attendant at times due to vacations and breaks

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completed State approved Apprenticeship or formal training
  • Computer skills with knowledge of MS Office, Lotus notes, SAP, Chase, Maximo or other CMMS programs. Familiar with (Computer Maintenance Management System) CMMS systems to complete work orders and requisition materials.
  • Experience troubleshooting, diagnosing machine defects & malfunctions, including capability to participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives to make recommendations for machine improvements.
  • Skilled in all facets of precision machine repair and restoration to include experience setting up and operating basic machine shop equipment
  • Experience with Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG), MIG and ARC (stick) welding
  • Basic Electrical knowledge
