National Transportation/Distribution Company is seeking:


POSITION: Transportation Director

LOCATION: Elizabethport, NJ 07206 (Near the Newark Airport)

SALARY: $140-150K + 8% Bonus

DEGREE: Strongly Preferred

EXPERIENCE: 7-10 years Transportation Operations Experience including Routing and Driver Management.

RELOCATION: Assistance Available in the form of a signing bonus


Experience needed for this role

•           Oversaw 1,000+ deliveries a day

•           Managed at least 50-60+ Company Drivers (Not Contracted Drivers)

•           Union Experience

•           Strong Routing Experience – RoadNet a huge plus.

•           Fast Paced Business Model with track planning and evaluation of routing



Fast paced consumer products distribution company is looking for an experienced director who will be responsible for the overall management and supervision of the transportation operation including all company drivers; researching, analyzing, designing and implementing methods to improve routing and logistical needs. In addition to improving transportation methods and routing of drivers, the director will be responsible for supervising and directing a team of supervisors in the area of transportation and routing, implementing and managing company programs and policies to assure maximum productivity of drivers and equipment. The ideal candidate will need to have prior experience in managing and supervising a fast paced and multi-level transportation operation in a strategic and professional manner. The director of transportation will report directly to the vice-president of operations. A Bachelor's degree is preferred but equivalent experience will be considered.


Director Responsibilities:

Direct, supervise and manage route supervisors.

Research, analyze, design and implement collection routes.

Develop strategies to optimize route productivity.

Design and implement safety policies and procedures.

Maintaining employee and customer retention rate through active communication and problem-solving efforts.

Coordinate meetings and manage staff to promote maximum communication between departments.

Supervise, mentor, train, and coach route supervisors and delegate assignments to ensure maximum productivity.

Produce reports and compose correspondence for upper management review.

Create presentations and other management-level reports.


Director Requirements:


A bachelor degree (not required) or equivalent experience.

7-10 years of experience in transportation and managing routing.

Proven leadership and management experience in transportation logistics.

Excellent computer skills, including a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
