Job Description Summary :
The TLC process/product plant technologist is the representative of innovation and renovation and continuous improvement in the plant.
She/he is accountable and implements the innovation, renovation and industrial excellence projects which are managed by or developed at the plant.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Representative of Inno/Reno and industrial excellence at the plant
    • Is the primary technical resource at the plant for the development and implementation of TLC changes in process or recipe, and the creation of new formulas.
    • Coordinates and manages any development project (inno/reno or industrial excellence) through the development process with RID portfolio Managers and the production department
    • Is responsible for the respect of planning and procedures when performing trials. Can plan and optimize his/her activity, taking both RID portfolio Manager requests and factory constraints into account.
    • Is accountable for the validation of the performance level (OEE, waste, cost) in the decision process (go/no go gates)
    • Communicates ideas/proposals concerning the projects managed by the RID portfolio Manager and coordinators
  • Trials preparation and follow up
    • Is responsible for trials budget preparation in collaboration with the RID portfolio Manager s.
    • Is accountable for the reliability of the results and the conclusion / recommendation of the trials
    • Defines and sets-up a trial plan for the RID portfolio Manager , Coordinators or production manager (with support from RID portfolio Manager if needed)
    • Processes data and carries out trial reports. Shares conclusion and recommendation with technical projects leaders or project teams.
  • Continuous improvement
    • Works closely with all the supervisors on the daily production concerns including but not limited to packaging, process and environment.
    • Oversees and makes adjustments to the daily cheese making processes when necessary.
    • Analyzes and follows-up on customer complaints to ensure the continual growth of Bel products.
    • Develops and maintains all necessary reporting to assess production performance. Partners with TLC production Manager and TLC Supervisors to set goals and KPIs for the department.
    • Ensures compliance with Company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA, safety, and complete on-time delivery at lowest possible cost.
    • Proactively pursues any necessary improvement projects identified.
    • Is in charge of making diagnoses and continuous improvement in accordance with the deployment of BMM standards (Lean Manufacturing program).
  • Communication and leadership
    • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communication, coaching, training and development.
    • Is a key person in the implementation of projects (innovation, renovation, industrial excellence), change management and training of operators
    • Leads and conducts meetings to rally the employees behind common goals.
    • Reports on current and future workload, giving visibility on the portfolio to the production manager and RID portfolio Manager
    • Manages his/her projects on time and in full
  • Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices as stated within the Policy.
  • Follows all safety rules and procedures by working safely and ensuring safety of others.
  • Follows all food safety procedures.
  • Follows all environmental protocols as applicable to job to prevent pollution to air, land, or water.
  • Follows all sanitation procedures and work instructions.
  • Follows all continuous improvement actions and rules and best practices.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Requires a Bachelor degree in Food science, and 3 to 5 years&##39; experience in the dairy industry.
  • Excellent communication (verbal, listening, and written) and interpersonal skills are necessary
  • Requires an individual to be self-motivated, work without immediate supervision and must be willing to be hands on.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office software required- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communications skills.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and lean methods including Reliability Excellence is preferred.
  • Need to have flexibility to work any hours/shifts.
