SUMMARY OF ROLE: The manager of Technical Standard leads a group of specialized technical professionals in Thermal Processing, Analytical Chemistry, and Packaging areas. The group is to research and set the food safety and quality standards for Mizkan based on scientific/technical principles, common industry practices and Mizkan internal rules. The group also ensures the copacker’s produced products to be food safe and meet MA standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Bring a breadth of food safety technical standards setting experiences to Mizkan America and be a strong contributor in establishing a strong platform for the enhancement of Brand, Operational Excellence and Technology.
  • Lead the group in research and setting the food safety and quality standards pertaining to Mizkan’s products and practices.
  • Collaborate with Mizkan Holding experts to ensure the technical standards are consistent with MH expectations.
  • Collaborate with Product Development for new and revised products to ensure Design Review/Risk Check are performed to Mizkan standard with scientific rigor.
  • Provide technical advisory services pertaining to the resolution of quality/compliance issues at plants and corporate levels.
  • Lead the group to provide testing method development consultations and supports in standardizing analytical methods used in Mizkan.
  • Lead the function to ensure the developed specifications for new or revised material and finished goods are properly validated with scientific evidence.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. and M.S. in Food Science/Technology or closely related fields.
  • Expert knowledge and hand-on experience in food microbiological safety, processing/thermal process food safety, and/or laboratory operations are strongly desirable.
  • At least 15 years food industry experience with a minimum 5 years in corporate technical/scientific management role.
  • Experience in product development and/or fermentation technology is a plus.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership in resolving complex technical/scientific issues.
  • Familiar with high volume output factory and acidified/low acid shelf-stable manufacturing operations environment.
  • Computer literacy skills and demonstrated project management skills and experiences.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and execute tasks in a fast paced, high performance, cross functional team-based culture, and passion about delivering tangible results.
  • Willingness and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and must have strong attention to details.
  • Exhibit leadership skills and demonstrate a proven ability to work collaboratively with all functional areas.
  • Exceptional oral and written skills.
