Baldwin Richardson Foods (BRF) is a family-owned company located east of the city of Rochester, NY and just north of the beautiful Finger Lakes area. It is the leading manufacturer and beverage syrup supplier to the top three quick-service coffee franchises. They have long-standing partnerships with large consumer packaging companies, and national quick service food chains. BRF has been growing, year over year, since it&##39;s inception in the mid-90&##39;s, and is continuing to expand it&##39;s footprint in the current market, and beyond.

WHAT WE NEED

This role leads the supplier quality program to ensure incoming ingredients and packaging materials meet the production of safe food by following Baldwin Richardson Foods&##39; quality and food safety policies and procedures. The Supervisor supports the Food Safety Plan (FSP) by providing technical expertise to hazard analysis.

WHAT YOU&##39;LL BE DOING

  • Verifies and ensures compliance to BRF supplier food safety and quality policies and procedures through document review, audits, and other performance information
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization&##39;s policies and applicable laws
  • Manages the supplier quality database in appropriate e-system including uploading audits, certificates, and other supplier quality supporting documents
  • Conducts root cause analysis and utilizes other quality /problem solving techniques to resolve supplier-related quality issues
  • Tracks and reports metrics used to define performance that are aligned with company objectives, including the Supplier Scorecard in partnership with the Procurement Department
  • Analyzes trends to understand performance opportunities to develop a plan to close gaps
  • Engages in non-conforming material process to ensure product is segregated and dispositioned
  • Creates and provides training to BRF team members on quality and food safety as needed
  • Supports plant readiness for governmental, 1st, 2nd and 3rd party audits (including SQF)
  • Performs internal audits in the production and storage areas and on procedures, policies and programs
  • Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and provides guidance on system improvements and staff training
  • Identifies areas to reduce waste, rework, and other inefficiencies with a focus on continuous process improvement
  • Uses statistical tools to create and assess processes and track progress of quality programs
  • Responsible for keeping abreast of emerging trends in the supply chain (i.e. regional, ingredient category, packaging, sustainability) and providing proactive solutions to address them
  • Partners with the Procurement, Production, and the Innovation Departments to support a timely commercialization process
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY:

  • Supervises and coaches the Supplier Quality Auditor(s) to support supply chain quality initiatives
  • Sets clear expectations and facilitates coaching and guidance to team members to foster achievement of departmental and company goals
  • Inspires, empowers, and manages performance of team members
  • Cultivates talent by identifying development needs and opportunities, and providing training/coaching to team members

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Bachelor&##39;s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, or Chemical Engineering
  • 3-5 years prior experience in food safety and quality
  • At least 1 year prior supervisory experience required

CERTIFICATES & TRAINING:

  • PCQI, HACCP, and SPC trained preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, CQA preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Ability to be a self-starter, capable of managing multiple projects and delivering against expectations
  • Knowledge of quality systems, food safety, and sanitation practices
  • Well -developed leadership capabilities and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with frequent change-overs, and quick commercialization process
  • Strong, effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to assemble resources needed to orchestrate multiple projects/activities and accomplish goals
  • Proficient in time management
  • Insightful and creative problem solving, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make discerning decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
  • Unquestionable integrity and dependability
  • Results-orientated with a focused sense of urgency

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of MS Office and a robust e-System, preferably SAP and Trace Gains.
