Supervise daily processing operations associated with color production of multiple product lines in assigned production departments. Supervise production employees and perform administrative tasks associated with the activities of a three-shift operation and 12 hour shifts. Assume responsibility for performance in safety, quality, productivity, inventory accuracy, GMP/housekeeping, yields, cost control and HAACP.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for safety, quality, productivity, inventory accuracy, housekeeping, yields and cost control.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, supervise employees and plan shift assignments.
  • Assist with the planning of the annual operating budget.
  • Staff department appropriately to handle production changes and identify efficiencies to standards for operations.
  • Assign personnel and determine optimum use of equipment resources to meet production goals.
  • Identify issues and take appropriate action to solve them.
  • Lead employee training and development.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and employee communication meetings.
  • Monitor and order raw materials and supplies in a timely manner to sustain production. Arrange for the flow of raw materials and finished products.
  • Monitor progress during shift and make appropriate adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot operational problems.
  • Monitor quality results on a daily basis. Investigate cause of quality problems when they occur.
  • Instruct and enforce safe operating procedures and methods. Identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to control them. Prepare equipment so that it can be safely worked on by maintenance.
  • Conduct operations to meet established cost standards. Review production edits daily and identify reasons for usage/yield variances. Report on performance.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintain paperwork on in-process and finished batches and ensure timely system allocation of raw materials and timely receipt of finished batches.
  • Assign housekeeping tasks to subordinates to maintain production areas in a clean orderly condition at all times. Prepare areas for inspections and customer audits/visits and serve on assigned inspection team.
  • Enforce GMP rules.
  • Conduct annual employee appraisals, maintain personnel records in an orderly manner. Document work performance attendance issues as necessary and initiate disciplinary action if required.
  • Conduct employee communication meetings.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor&##39;s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is required with a minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of formula conversions and understanding of inventory interpretations and solutions to material shortages.
  • Knowledge of all local and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in JD Edwards preferred.
