SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing day-to-day support to the Finance Department by completing integral month-end closing analysis, reconciliations and entries into financial system, assisting with daily and weekly transaction processing and providing ad hoc reporting as needed and requested.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.

  • Support the timely and accurate month and year-end closing process. Analyze and explain any significant or unusual variances.
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to business transactions.
  • Support the Accounting Manager and department with all Staff Accounting tasks assigned.
  • Provide consistent accuracy in the production of reconciliations and reports and present the results to management.
  • Analyze financial information and summarize.
  • Respond to information requests, review financial statements, and assist with audit and tax engagements to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

  • Technical skills in general accounting, month-end closing analysis, account reconciliation, and financial reporting/statements.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a high-paced, high-volume work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, maintain deadlines, and demonstrate urgency when handling time-sensitive information.
  • Requires effective oral/presentation and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas, and/or facts and recommendations effectively.
  • Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Office; Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Interpersonal and team skills with ability to professionally interact with all levels of personnel required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive materials.


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3 years of Staff Accounting experience in public accounting preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Strong financial reporting, general accounting and analysis skills.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP a plus
