WHAT WE NEED
The Senior Manager Logistics role will have the responsibility for strategic level and day-to-day movement of materials and finished goods that are required to ensure that the company can consistently deliver our products and exceed our customers’ expectations. The role is responsible for the entire material receiving value stream (receipt to internal delivery) and material shipment value stream (finished goods to delivery to customer), and continuously identifying opportunities for improved efficiencies and/or cost.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead the development of solutions to complex logistics support problems in tandem with product support functions, customers, and suppliers.
Initiate continuous improvement programs focusing on cost reduction, service improvement, and capacity management.
Apply Lean Six Sigma and project management methodologies to lead projects and meetings that coordinate cross-functional employees.
Research, identify and implement a Warehouse Management System (WMS)
Be the subject matter expert in logistics activities across the organization.
Continuously evaluate existing transportation and delivery framework (equipment, processes, people, technology, etc.) to understand how we can improve and build on the existing system, and drive any changes to fruition.
Manage all on and off-site warehouse capacity and costs.
Direct the development of budgets and service cost objectives for all activities within the function. Monitor and control budgets through the planned period, and fiscal year, to ensure that goals are met, and variances are controlled.
Research and identify best practices and trends, including KPIs, in the marketplace and lead the implementation of innovative ideas that drive progress and continuous improvement.
Maintain and develop business relationships with 3PLs and carriers for all inbound and outbound shipments, including evaluating the best vendor, given each circumstances and challenges.
Create, implement and maintain processes and policies that will enable safe, efficient warehousing and loading activity
Oversee physical conditions of warehouse by planning and implementing design layout to ensure efficient space utilization, and GMP, OSHA, FDA, SQF and related standards of health and safety, hygiene and security.
Set a positive and confident leadership example to all the employees and management. Promote positive employee relations through effective relationship building, conflict management and issue resolution.
Develop and mentor managers and supervisors to ensure consistent management of employees within department and across organization. Identify opportunities for development and advancement for employees.
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics Supply Chain Management or related field
A minimum of ten (10) years of logistics, warehouse, supply chain experience at a professional level
A minimum of five (5) years of related management experience (hiring, firing, performance management and development)
Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP Systems, preferably SAP
Certifications in Lean and/or 6-Sigma Preferred
Proven experience overcoming the challenges of manufacturing; providing innovative solutions to those challenges
Experience with value stream mapping and lean manufacturing
Proven leadership, management, and people development skills
Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
Analytical and adept at MS Suite including Excel and power point. (MS Project, Visio is added advantage)
Ability to think strategically and convert strategy into action
Workflow and process driven
Develop, implement, and manage KPI’s
Knowledge of OSHA, FDA and safety regulations
Blend of strategic thinking and tactical actions applied to issues at hand
Ability to independently prioritize and juggle multiple matters at once
Interpersonal and communications skills to motivate, empower, train, direct, lead, evaluate and coach a diverse group of team members to reach their fullest potential
