Sr. Controls and Automation Manager

Position Overview:

Johnsonville, LLC, a strong, high growth company, has an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual to join us as a Senior AC&I Engineering Coordinator. You will lead the Automation, Controls, and Integration team to discover and integrate the latest technologies. The Sr. AC&I Engineering Coordinator will partner with our Engineering, Maintenance and Operations Teams to focus on projects and initiatives in the areas of electrical, PLCs, and robotics within our operations. You will have the opportunity to be involved in cutting edge technology which will help us get closer to our goal of Best Company in the World.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and integrate electrical control systems for machines and manufacturing processes as well as large scale communication network architecture design
  • Develop our organizational technical competencies surrounding automation, programming, and controls systems
  • Work on project development including concept, design, layout, cost estimating, and cost justification; research and selection of the best equipment and project submittals with timelines and contingencies
  • Manage projects which include periodic updates to all stakeholders, project commissioning, project closing and assuring the proper disposition of all capital assets at the end of each project
  • Coordinate the identification, design, and development of the Johnsonville 5-year capital project portfolio through the Johnsonville Project Management Office
  • Lead projects in support of efforts to constantly improve safety, product quality, reliability, continuous improvement, and customer service; creating breakthrough ideas that will move the Company s productivity pipeline items from concept into reality
  • Work with vendors, contractors, governmental regulatory agencies (USDA, OSHA, DNR, EPA, etc.) to the extent needed to complete the various projects

Education:

  • Bachelor s of Science degree in an engineering related field is required; a Master s Degree in either Engineering or Business is preferred

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of demonstrated successful performance in managing projects in a food or beverage processing facility; experience in a USDA regulated facility is a plus
  • A minimum of 10 years of coaching experience; established track record of team building and development
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and installation of packaging, material handling and process operations
  • Ability to develop long-term capital portfolio in the areas of productivity, ROI and Essential Capital
  • Knowledge and ability to synthesize new and emerging technologies into manageable and practical applications
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects in a team-based environment and operational setting
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (oral, written, and listening)
  • Working knowledge of utility systems (ammonia, steam, air, etc.)
  • Experience in the creation and writing of engineering specifications
  • The ability to effectively use Excel, Word, MS Project (or equivalent project management software) and AutoCAD

Experience in any combination of the following is required.

  • PLC: Micrologix (1000, 1100, 1200, 1500), ControlLogix, CompactLogix
  • Robotic: ABB, FANUC, Staubli
  • Servo: Ultra 3000, Kinetix 350, 5500, 6000
  • AC Drives: Allen Bradley (PowerFlex 4, PowerFlex 70, PowerFlex 525, PowerFlex 527)
  • HMI: Allen Bradley Panelview Plus, PC based Industrial Computers
  • Network: EtherNet IP, Cisco, Stratix

Software Qualifications:

Experience in any combination of the following is required.

  • SCADA: Ignition by Inductive Automation
  • Rockwell: Studio 5000, RSLogix (500, 5000), FactoryTalk View (ME, SE, ViewPoint), FactoryTalk Asset Centre, VantagePoint, FactoryTalk Historian (ME, SE)
  • Robotic: ABB s Robotic Studio, Staubli s VAL, FANUC s Karel
  • Windows 10, Windows Office Suite
