Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Ensures that tasks and functions are performed in a safe manner that upholds expectations throughout the production and packaging processes.
  • Manages all Quality and Food Safety programs, including SQF program requirements, FDA /FSMA mandated Food Safety programs and policies, and Customer requirements.
  • Manages product formulas and packaging materials used at this facility, including existing product lines, implementation of new and revised formulas and associated data, and product specifications.
  • Responsible for maintaining effective control of production area and equipment, including verification of cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Review supplier documentation, maintains product documentation (re: allergens, ingredients, etc.), conducts internal audit/inspections, ensures employees follow GMP and Food Safety policies, implements corrective action in case of nonconforming product or event.
  • Is responsible for developing, implementing, reviewing and revising as necessary all Food Safety and Quality programs, Prerequisite Programs, Standard Operating Procedures and Plant policies as relating to the quality and safety of finished products.
  • Is responsible for the Safety and Quality of all finished products produced on all shifts
  • Effectively communicates with all levels of plant management regarding quality and food safety concerns.
  • Is responsible for root cause analysis and corrective actions for raw and finished goods non-conformances, and takes steps to implement preventative actions and verify effectiveness.
  • Effectively communicates with all customers and regulatory agencies.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the food industry and knowledge of GMP’s and SQF audits is valuable.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Has knowledge of current FDA laws and SQF requirements as applied to food manufacturers preferred
  • Is proficient in writing technical material, procedures, and communications
  • Is skilled in the use of computer programs including Microsoft Word and MS Excel
  • Has excellent problem-solving abilities, including math skills
  • Has the ability to effectively communicate and delegate responsibilities relating to quality and food safety procedures with all employees responsible for monitoring, testing and inspecting raw materials, finished and unfinished product
  • Is or is willing to become HACCP certified
  • Is or is willing to become certified in PCQI

  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

Education Or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of applicable experience with progressive responsibilities in a quality assurance environment.
  • Must speak English
