As the Senior Research and Development Scientist for Innovation, Technology, and Quality (ITQ) you will be responsible for new product strategy, concept development, product formulation, and process development. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to impact the ITQ function by leveraging your knowledge, skills and expertise to create new possibilities in the platform by leading process development and innovation and advancing technical possibilities by bringing strategic differentiation to the General Mills product portfolio.

The right candidate for this role will be able to make internal and external connections to leverage pipelines, portfolios, and technologies for innovation. The right candidate will also be successful at developing great partnerships with cross functional partners, have superior project management skills, and have strong formulation and process development skills. The projects you manage in this role will provide you with leadership in complex projects, the ability to advance science, and build new capabilities, processes, and business partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take products from bench top to full production while collaborating fully in a cross functional environment
  • Develop new products, make product improvements, and contribute to concept refinement and product start-ups
  • Drive projects through appropriate consumer, descriptive, and discrimination testing to enhance product knowledge from its initial concept state to its appearance on grocers&##39; shelves
  • Partner with global teams to identify new opportunities and solve technical challenges
  • Build technical expertise in new areas and share knowledge across the organization
  • Identify opportunities by challenging formulation and processing assumptions
  • Execute commercialization of projects efficiently and with excellence
  • Provide coaching, training, and daily direction for R&D resources

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science or related field
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Proven ability to deliver executional excellence, facilitate cultural learning, and develop technical and scientific rigor

  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to multiple situations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters or Ph.D. in Food Science degree
  • Innovative thinker, creative, willing to challenge established methods and beliefs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technically driven projects; strong technical background
  • Self-starter with a strong bias for action as well as skills for problem-solving and trouble-shooting
  • Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional and external environment and provide key product guidance
