We are looking for a Senior QA Manager for Pilgrim's.

The Senior Quality Assurance Manager - Antimicrobial role supports Pilgrim's Pride (PPC) FSQA teams by enforcing and enhancing the processing plant antimicrobial programs, managing antimicrobial supplier relationships, and researching solutions for continuous improvement of pathogen defense. This position works independently, with no direct reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and implement a standardized company process relative to the management and application of antimicrobials, backed by clear policies and procedures.
  • Continuously monitor antimicrobial concentrations and lab results (internal and USDA) to identify areas of concern and non-compliance.
  • Provide training, analytics, and overall antimicrobial support to FSQA management.
  • Interface with plant teams to assist in root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
  • Facilitate routine and critical event discussions with all levels of organization (including suppliers) to ensure appropriate and structured actions are being taken to resolve issues.
  • Actively participate in weekly FSQA staff meetings providing insights, recommendations, and information relative to our antimicrobial programs and pathogen defense systems.
  • Assist in planning and coordination of plant projects (supplier change, equip installs, etc.).
  • Track scientific research and identify possible risks/opportunities related to pathogenic microorganism defense.
  • Convert current challenges presented by senior management into strategic projects.
  • Present analysis to decision makers/stakeholders by creating statistical reports and visualizations.
  • Work closely with Procurement teams to manage the 3 key aspects of the supplier relationship: Performance, Service, and Cost.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to perform process validations for antimicrobial applications.
  • Develop and implement annual antimicrobial budgets for 26 fresh processing plants using a zero based budget approach.
  • Organize and update antimicrobial supplier information (contact lists, contracts, SOP's, etc).
  • Setup/maintain data collection systems to properly feed dashboards and alert frameworks.
  • Other duties as assigned

CANDIDATES ARE EXPECTED TO:
  • Travel up to 50% of time, with overnight stays of 2-5 days.
  • Must be able to work varying shifts and days (incl occasional weekends) to meet deadlines.
  • Able to navigate processing areas and equipment.
  • Recognizes and acts on incidents and safety risks. Consistently practices and enforces safe work habits and drives those habits throughout the facilities.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, or similar field; or five (5) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and training.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • 3-5 years of food manufacturing experience required, preferably in poultry processing.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with others.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams with varied levels of experience and expertise.
  • Ability to manage and make sense of large amounts of data.
  • High business acumen including budgeting and finance experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Performs at a high level while exhibiting the company's core values.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be exposed to both an office environment and the production environment of wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the production environment is usually loud.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): eligible after 90 days of employment including company match which begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule
  • Base salary range $77,385 - $100,590
  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company's annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program
