The Senior Mechanical Engineer provides technical leadership, development, and oversight of Shick Esteve KC’s dry ingredient process engineering. This position involves a dual focus on strategic work and operational execution. It requires a close working relationship with the Systems Engineering Senior Manager while also affording a high degree of latitude and creativity in providing the structure for the engineering team to achieve world class engineering execution.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide technical leadership and project oversight regarding all process engineering and design of pneumatic conveying systems and associated mechanical components.

  • Develop, review, and maintain system design standards, guides, and best practices for pneumatic conveying systems.

  • Train and mentor appropriate personnel in the application of established standards, operating principles, and system troubleshooting for pneumatic conveying systems.

  • Provide technical assistance to Sales and Systems & Products.

  • Develop User Requirements, Functional Specifications, Design Specifications and Operation/Maintenance Manuals for new and existing systems.

  • Assist Senior Manager in developing and maintaining a strategic plan for the dry ingredient handling systems sector of the Systems Engineering department.

  • Assist in reviewing and providing recommendations for staffing.

  • Provide shop/field support, project execution, travel, and other duties as needed.

Job Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering required (mechanical preferred) AND 10+ years of experience in mechanical system design OR 15+ years of system design experience with an emphasis on pneumatic conveying and related equipment

  • Exemplary critical thinking, objective reasoning, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with all levels of the organization as well as external vendors and clients

  • Experience with Autodesk Mechanical, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vault, Microsoft Office

  • Experience with pneumatic conveying or related industrial process applications required

  • Experience with structural design & FEA desired

  • Previous experience leading and mentoring junior engineers required
