JOB TITLE: Sr. Manager of Logistics

LOCATION: Madison - Onsite

REPORTS TO: Sourcing Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

At Foremost Farms USA, the Sr Manager of Logistics is accountable for all Foremost Farms arranged dry and refrigerated freight (Cheese, Butter and Ingredients) and for its cost-effective administration. In addition, this person owns and fosters relationships with our outside warehousing partners to ensure the organization meets supply chain objectives.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee and manage interactions with third party transportation partners .
  • Oversee and manage the scheduling of internal transfers between our plants, outside warehouses, co-manufacturers, and distribution center (DC) locations to maximize efficiency and minimize transportation costs.
  • Manage carrier relationships within our network, qualify new carries, manage and negotiate rate contracts, process OS&D issues, and approve invoices.
  • Maintain working knowledge of TMS (Transportation Management System)
  • Develop, implement, and execute an overall logistics strategy to achieve service level goals when coordinating the movement of product.
  • Optimize the FFUSA carrier network to offer value added transportation solutions to our customer.
  • Act as the liaison to build a strong business relationship between production planners, plants, customer service, purchasing, transportation and warehousing providers to improve efficiency and minimize costs.
  • Supervise Logistics Analyst activities and projects.
  • Responsible for establishing, tracking, reporting, and meeting key performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with the other departments as needed to analyze lanes and to offer transportations backup assistance as needed.
  • Manage employees and provide coaching, motivation, and guidance to help team members to achieve their goals.
  • Identify and implement improvement projects to deliver continuous improvement for the entire function.
  • Provide support as needed to customer fulfillment/Inventory control for cycle counting or full physicals.
  • Some travel to various plants is required.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Other Skills & Abilities: Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines. The ability to drive a motor vehicle, and maintain a valid driver s license.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • This position requires Bachelor Degree in business or related field of study, knowledge related to the job and at least five years of job-related experience in roles of increasing responsibility.
  • This person also needs to be highly skilled in building relationships, influencing others, leading change and developing talent.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position directly supervises transportation coordinator and analyst position(s). Responsibilities include but not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees, appraising performance, rewarding and coaching employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
