Senior Manager, Insights

VP, Insights

In this role, you will provide strategic insights and council to senior leaders within the J.M. Smucker Coffee SBA. You will lead a team of consumer/shopper insights and analytics professionals to provide holistic perspective on the brands in your area of responsibility. Key areas of focus will include brand strategy, marketing communications, innovation strategy and activation, strategic portfolio management, and customer/category thought leadership. The successful candidate will have strong understanding of insights and analytics tools and how they can be leveraged to drive business action, an orientation to driving business results with a collaborative approach, and an ability to mentor and bring out the best in direct reports.


  • Provide strategic council to senior marketing and cross-functional partners
    • Craft learning plans that will address critical business needs
    • Synthesize existing and new custom research, analytics, and secondary research to provide holistic analyses and viewpoints to the business
    • Proactively identify opportunities to provide insights and analytics-based brand and business understanding and perspective
    • Play an active role in brand and communications strategy processes
    • Provide ongoing council to business partners that leverages insights work and business-oriented point of view

  • Mentor a team of insights and analytics professionals
    • Provide guidance on the design, implementation, management, and analysis of consumer/shopper insights and analytics projects
    • Help direct reports connect the dots across new and existing insights work to impact business strategy
    • Continue to leverage and evolve insights capabilities and deliverables with an eye toward forward-looking, strategic, and timely action-oriented approaches
    • Identify opportunities to leverage insights from across the company to the team&##39;s area of responsibility


  • A Bachelor&##39;s Degree is required; an MBA/advanced degree preferred


  • At least 12 years of experience in consumer/shopper insights is required
  • Professional experience ideally with a CPG company


  • Deep knowledge of primary marketing research methodologies and techniques
  • Solid experience in syndicated data and analytics
  • Strategic mindset and ability to effectively communicate actionable insights
  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources to develop comprehensive analyses
  • Sense of curiosity to deepen our understanding of consumers and the competitive marketplace
  • High collaborative mindset to help the company take insights-inspired business action
  • Travel approximately 10-20%
