Position: Food Safety Coordinator
The Food Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the management and maintenance of the Food Safety at Allseas Fisheries to ensure the plant’s ability to demonstrate ongoing compliance.
Key Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities
• Reports to QA management and provide Food Safety support to other members of QA and production during the Shift
• Follow up on CFIA and SQF audits to ensure action plans are effectively in place to prevent CAR’s Food Safety Liaise with CFIA and SQF
•Administer third party and customer food safety requirements
•Maintains Food Safety documents according to the written program, ensures that documents are reviewed/revised as scheduled.
•Liaises with other stakeholders, initiates and assists in the development of Standard Operating Procedures
•Ensures that new policies, procedures and changes are implemented with appropriate documentation and training
•Assists with the management of the corrective action program to reduce the occurrence of repeat deficiencies/deviations (ie: follow up on non-compliances to ensure effectiveness).
•Verifies that the plant is in compliance with the written program on an ongoing basis
•Provides timely and effective feedback to the QA Management and other stakeholders as appropriate
•Liaises with peers to maintain document control, tracking and ensure compliance
•Maintains food safety knowledge current – stays abreast with regulatory changes and new policies
•Develops and implements training programs for employees
•Prevents the on-going production of non-compliant product when non-conformities are observed or identified
•Control any non-compliant product that has been produced, perform a food safety assessment and determine appropriate disposition
•Monitoring, implementation and enforcement of plant Food Safety Programs
•Other duties that may be assigned from time to time
•Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Food Safety/Science program or equivalent experience
•Strong understanding of Sanitation, SFCR, SOPs, Pre-requisite Programs, HACCP, CCP’s and GMP’s
•HACCP I-II certificate
•1-2 years’ experience in the Food industry preferred
