This position is part of the graduate rotational program. In this role, the Rotational Commercial Analyst will rotate through various functions such as sales, marketing, and research, development, and applications over approximately a two-year timeframe. During this time, the Rotational Commercial Analyst can expect to have the following experiences and job responsibilities:

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Visit a DFA farm to gain basic dairy farming knowledge and experience
  • Follow up on incoming sales leads as directed
  • Prepare for and participate in tradeshow or industry event (if applicable)
  • Utilize systems throughout rotation, including Power BI, Salesforce, PCM, genesis, trace gains, SharePoint, etc., to analyze data and provide metrics. Produce reports, provide analytics, and build capability around data analysis and critical thinking
  • Understand the development of pricing and margin strategies for their leads and opportunities (i.e., understanding the market and value selling)
  • Participate in formalized solutions sales training and/or negotiation training
  • Conduct pre-call prep for all customer meetings as directed
  • Participate in customer meetings across various platforms including taste and flavor and foodservice and of various types, such as introductory and opportunity meetings, hunting, capability presentations, demos, samples, requests for proposal (RFP)/pricing, quality event, complaint resolutions, etc.
  • Track sales by customer and follow up with customer while working with customer service
  • Sit in on sales and operations planning (S&OP) forecasting meetings to learn the process and team dynamics
  • Participate in a customer audit in plant (understanding of quality, regulatory etc.)
  • Develop a sales plan and build strategic selling capability
  • Use and understand dairy technologies in research, development, and applications (RD&A) in manufacturing
  • Participate in sensory panels
  • Prepare and send samples for customers. Understand how to maintain sample and raw material inventory
  • Run pilot dryer; understand science and methodology to spray drying, blending, etc.
  • Work on a new product project, conduct experiments and research, develop specs and product information bulletins (PIB), and understand how to produce product applications. Prepare and present report on project results and next steps
  • Research on-trend applications
  • Understand foodservice culinary applications
  • Assist with new product scale-ups at manufacturing facilities and/or scale up at customer facility where product is used
  • Participate in providing answers to customer&##39;s technical product questions
  • Develop products from assigned projects through fermentation and other innovation and application related processes
  • Participate in prototype meeting (showing innovations internally, cross functionally)
  • Research new ingredient technologies
