Job Title: Rice Saccharification Operator

SUMMARY: Perform duties to produce rice vinegar for bulk packaging. Exercise some judgment to adjust salt and alcohol levels, complying with instructions and prescribed routines, methods or procedures, and involving the making of minor decisions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Work from production schedules, formulas, and instructions.
Initiate startup, preparing equipment and materials, monitor and shut down each phase of batch operation.
Make routine inspections of the tanks, pumps, meters, valves, lines, and motors to assure that all systems in the process are in working order.
Weigh and add ingredients into prescribed mixing vessels.
Troubleshoot abnormal conditions and notify appropriate personnel as situation dictates.
Monitor production processes through system, determine problems and make adjustments to maintain desired operating conditions.
Take random samples of liquid. Conduct periodic laboratory analysis to monitor processes and log results. Make final adjustments to salt and alcohol levels.
Conduct cleaning procedures inside and outside of tanks and all work areas.
Complete production reports and certificates of analysis.
Follow safety rules and keep work area in clean and orderly condition.
Responsible for food product quality and safety.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Over 6 months and up to 9 months experience required.
Ability to read, write, and interpret English for completion and interpretation of documentation and reports.
Continuous mental and visual attention required to monitor production, involving repetitive or diversified work requiring constant alertness or activity.
Working knowledge and ability to use calculator, personal computer, pallet jack, forklift, and hand tools.
Light physical effort required to handle ingredients, which is equivalent to occasionally lifting or moving average weight material, and frequently lifting or moving light weights.
