Regulatory Specialist

Our food manufacturing client in Overland Park, KS is looking to hire a Regulatory Specialist. This Regulatory Specialist will be a part of the Food Safety & Quality department reporting to the Director of Quality and Food Safety. This hire will be responsible for working with customers to provide all aspects of food labeling and regulatory information. Facilitate workflows for new products, packaging, labels and product changes. Manage and maintain database of documents required for compliance to regulatory standards. Complete surveys and/or audits for regulatory or customer requests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures for incoming and outgoing regulatory documents.
  • Validate product composition and labeling compliance under US and International Laws and Regulations.
  • Understand, analyze and manage formulas using Genesis Labeling Software given from Product Development and Customers.
  • Create and generate the ingredient statement and nutritional panel for package labeling.
  • Responsible for Organic products certification.
  • Responsible for non-gmo/bio-engineered product verification.
  • Understand Identity Preserved product requirements (GMO, Organic, Gluten Free, Kosher, Halal).
  • Sign all in-house verifications for nutrition panels, specification sheets and range formulas.
  • Proof finish good labels.
  • Maintain/update current ingredient, finished goods and labeling requirements for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Work alongside teams to identify regulatory requirements for products and labels.
  • Complete customer regulatory requests.

Job Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Regulatory, Food Science, Nutrition or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in the technical aspects of food labeling, food analysis or quality assurance.
  • Ability to research food regulations and interpret and apply them to a daily job role.
  • Familiarity with 3rd party standards and certifications in the food industry.
  • Ability to proficiently deal directly with vendors and customers.
