Regulatory Manager

Provides technical and regulatory support to company brands. The position will focus on increasing demands for technical information (including incorporating acquisitions into our specification systems). This position will assure that food safety, regulatory and quality decisions can be made with accurate and up-to-date information. Position will provide leadership and support bridging R&D/product development to consumer or customer facing technical information.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides technical support and oversight covering label and claim declarations
  • Help on-board acquisitions by acquiring and evaluating critical information from ingredient suppliers and building ingredient specifications in specification database
  • Build acquired facilities current formulas in database. This will include some processing parameters
  • Develop nutrition panels in database
  • Serves as a key technical resource serving as a liaison between corporate QA, R&D, Tech Services, Brand, Label Design, Regulatory consultants (International). Support for both internal and co-manufacturing plant operations
  • Develop the Information Panel and required regulatory information for new and current products
  • Evaluate claims for products for accuracy. Develop claim justification
  • Advise R&D and Brand concerning nutrition and claims during development of new and revised products
  • Respond to consumer inquiries and customer specification requests

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS degree in food science, food engineering, microbiology, chemistry, or other similar science related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in food, ideally in regulatory compliance and label information development
  • Must be able to interpret regulations and make recommendations to the business
  • Broad knowledge of food science (emphasis on food safety, quality, product development, operations)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to contribute in start-up environment
  • Must be able to lead projects and proactively anticipate and address issues in existing as well as start-up businesses
