Regulatory Compliance Specialist

The Regulatory Compliance Specialist is to assure compliance of company’s product with appropriate regulations and serve as a regulatory resource for both internal and external customers.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert in assigned areas. Interprets regulations; does research, develops, implements, and reviews technical data for compliance
  • Advises corporate personnel regarding the development and implementation of regulatory strategy, potential areas of regulatory concern and new governmental regulatory developments
  • Provides information to address the needs of an internal customer and provide guidance in the development of products. Provides explanation of compliance of company’s products, discussion of product and compliance options
  • Provides information to customers and responds to customer requests in a timely manner
  • Continuously improves company’s system to allow faster and more accurate responses to customer inquiries. Reviews and updates technical data
  • Assures our flavors are in compliance with US, Canadian, LATAM, and Brazilian Regulations for labeling, Nutritional, and other regional requirements
  • Participates in Organic Flavor Certification program by supporting our Raw Material documentation program as well as supports compliance and submission to our flavors to QAI for Organic Flavor Certification
  • Sup ports the TTB Flavor Regulatory Program as needed
  • Assures company’s Kosher and Halal programs are operating properly
  • Familiarization with EU Regulations for Allergens and IFRA
  • Answers assigned regulatory requests timely

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or other related discipline
  • At least 3-5 years of proven performance in regulatory compliance in food, flavor, or fragrance industries
  • Notable experience in Regulatory Affairs in the food, flavor or fragrance industries
  • Understanding of industry regulations including acronyms and terminology such as GMP, Kosher, Halal, NOP, allergens, labeling, TTB, IFRA, REACH, CAS numbers, Prop. 65, 484, etc.
  • Proven people management skills. Must use strong leadership interpersonal skills to develop a common sense, practical approach to goals that emphasize teamwork and participation
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Highly analytical, ability to conduct advanced analyses independently
  • Independent, self-motivated, proactive team player with strong work ethic
  • Daily interaction with all company team, this would include interaction with senior management
  • Environment will be moderate
  • Extensive knowledge of fragrance and/or food regulations
  • 5 years of industry experience in regulatory and/or quality or similar function required to address compliance with fragrance and/or food regulations
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively organize and manage work tasks of a diverse nature
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal with a variety of internal and external extracts
  • Participation in professional meetings as needed
  • Strong problem solving, organization and attention to detail skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Self-motivated and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and multi-task
