GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Regulatory Affairs & Certification Manager oversees all aspects of regulatory matters and certification related to raw materials and finished products at both facilities. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining policies and programs to execute the regulatory objectives of the company. Provides guidance and regulatory support to relevant departments and assists with regulatory and certification related customer inquiries.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Develop, implement, and maintain policies and programs to execute regulatory objectives.
• Continuously improve systems to allow faster and more accurate responses to customer inquiries.
• Interpret regulations; research, develop, implement, and review technical data for compliance.
• Take responsibility for accuracy of, and regular review/update of, technical data to ensure that the internal database is kept up-to-date with all substantiation documents.
• Advise personnel regarding new governmental regulatory developments.
• Provide regulatory guidance to departments particularly during formula development.
• Review and interpret regulatory rules as related to company products and procedures and ensure they are communicated to appropriate departments.
• Maintain current knowledge of, and assure compliance with, existing and emerging regulations, standards and guidance documents as related to TTB, IFRA, Kosher, Halal and Organic.
• Responsible for reading, comprehending and applying subject matter expertise to product labeling, food allergens, genetically modified foods, bioengineering, nutrition, organic and religious suitability (Kosher/Halal), FEMA GRAS, FDA, USDA, Prop 65 and international laws affecting flavor and juice as ingredients for use in further manufacturing. Communicate with legal department regarding these as appropriate.
• Bulk labeling of our products in compliance with applicable country regulation.
• Responsible for coordinating and ensuring accurate, compliant preparation and timely submission of documents, questionnaires and inquiries required by customers, and other external parties ranging from routine to complex.
• Complete formal written response to customer inquiries related to regulatory affairs and product certifications.
• Participate in the formula conversion process from R&D to active product, and all duties related to the procedure including regulatory review and application for certifications where necessary (religious, Organic, or others).
• Provide consultation to quality department in the audit process for customers and regulatory authorities, participating and assist in the audits where necessary.
• Advise Quality and Food Safety Mangers regarding impact of change orders on current regulatory approvals.
• Maintain renewal of relevant permits and licenses.

REQUIREMENTS:

• B.S.or Master’s degree in in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar field of study.
• 5+ years of related experience in regulatory management in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent training and experience.
• Experience with International regulations and submissions required.
• Ability to apply global regulatory authorities’ regulations and/or guidance.
• High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications and ERP Systems.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, scientific data, governmental regulations, and chemical hazard information and safety procedures.
• Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures regarding flavor and juice industry.
• Ability to interpret and prepare reports.
• Ability to apply mathematical and statistical concepts to achieve desired results.
• Adept at using logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
• Must report to any company facility according to company need, sometimes with same-day notice.
