Job title: Quality Manager
OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB:
Manage all food safety and quality-related functions for the plant including customer audits and quality personnel. Oversee and control all plant documentation and assume team leadership roles to ensure a safe work environment that efficiently manufactures the highest quality products that meet customer specifications.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB: OVERVIEW
Develop and implement a plan to established goals in the Food Safety and Quality Strategy. The plan must provide employees with a vision, training and tools to implement change and improvement. The primary challenge is to raise and maintain a high employee skill level.
Conduct and/or oversee training programs for the plant staff. To develop training programs that address the different ways that people learn and to develop programs that employees with different educational levels can easily understand. Development of ongoing training to improve the quality and safety of the plant. Training to provide a review of general information as well as address new areas of concern.
Oversee the corrective and preventative actions for non-conforming finished products, and quality system procedures. The greatest challenges in managing non-conformances is determining an accurate root cause and implementing a good corrective action.
Manage daily quality responsibilities and Plan to Win initiatives, as well as, other team projects to improve quality, productivity and efficiency. Produce the highest quality products and meet the production schedule requirements while completing team projects.
Manage and maintain trained quality assurance staff to confirm product testing is completed promptly and accurately to ensure the highest quality products are shipped to the customer.
Conduct the bi-annual review of the lab supervisors to assess the employee’s job performance to determine pay increases, and approve the reviews for all other quality assurance staff. Based on the evaluations, coordinate and monitor follow up training to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, safety and quality policies. Establish programs to help the individual achieve the highest performance growth.
Control and update procedures including quality procedures, standard operating procedures and work instructions so that all personnel will follow the correct established guidelines.
Prepare for and participate in customer and regulatory audits to ensure compliance with all regulatory and customer requirements. Review and document completion of any corrective actions and provide follow up with customers and regulatory agencies.
Facilitate the plant HACCP and quality teams. Coordinate troubleshooting efforts and investigations to determine root cause. Identify and implement necessary corrective actions to prevent recurrence and provide documentation of investigation and corrective actions.
Assist with new products so that quality and related customer issues can be resolved to ensure a successful product launch for the customer.
Communicate plant quality information on a regular basis.
Oversee and investigate all customer returns, non-conformances or complaints to ensure accurate determination of root cause and implementation of any needed corrective actions. Maintain contact with the customer for resolution of the issues.
Oversee all audits to ensure plant maintains high sanitation and food safety standards. Establish food safety and quality guidelines within the plant and insure compliance across all departments via cross –functional teams.
Lead effort to improve Supplier Quality Assurance and Control.
