Our Jonestown Distribution Center, a 218,000 sq. ft. refrigerated facility operating 24/7, is currently seeking a Quality Control Manager to join our team.The essential function of this position is to ensure verification of outbound product quality, product traceability and other critical label and packaging information. This role will also looked upon to initiate and lead the development of methods to improve overall product quality and support company efforts to achieve SQF and other industry certifications.

Work Schedule will primarily be standard first shift hours but will also require the flexibility to work across all four production shifts, including some nights/weekends/holidays, as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist as needed with development of product specifications and communication of changes to other departments.
  • Flexibility to work across all four production shifts to ensure consistency, provide direction and support as needed
  • Personally, initiate and lead the development of methods to improve product quality
  • Support as needed all company efforts to achieve SQF and other industry certifications.
  • Uphold and actively enforce all company policies regarding traceability.
  • Monitor the disposition of all issued nonconformance reports including those raised in daily audits.
  • The ability to perform and evaluate production lines to ensure product quality.
  • Ensure all packaged/bulk products meets or exceeds Mastronardi specifications, customer specifications and follow all country of origin legislation.
  • Ensure all product labels are oriented properly and contain all pertinent information.
  • Report quality issues to all the appropriate parties to ensure corrective action if necessary.
  • Review non-compliance audits when deemed necessary to uphold the QA Audit process and verify that finished products meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Develop metrics to monitor repack product quality.
  • Identity and address quality issues with Packaging Personnel in a personable and professional manner.
  • Must work to develop teamwork and a positive work environment among direct reports, between shifts and throughout the Quality Organization.
  • Develop job related technical abilities of direct reports.
  • Work with the Food Safety department on any issues concerning product quality.
  • Ensure food safety practices are followed and personally role model these guidelines.
  • Ensure all reports are professional in appearance and accurately filled out in all data fields
  • Ensure all employee performance reviews and disciplinary issues are handled in a timely and professional manner.
  • The ability to use and read several types of quality equipment; ruler, scale, calipers, etc.
  • Establish Item numbers for New Product in ERP Navision System.
  • Coordinate / Facilitate Product Development Process for current and future products.
  • Monitor day to day operation of label room to ensure effective support of Production operation.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of all Label View and Product Specification Files.
  • Provide management with quantitative and qualitative data to drive cost reductions.
  • Train and mentor production personnel on quality expectations and ensuring use of product specifications.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • College degree or 10 years of experience in the quality field, required

  • Must be a self-starter and willing to work flexible hours; Rotational shifts, weekends, holidays, etc.
  • Proficiency in use of English language with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Spanish as a second language would be an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required.
  • Highly proficient in computer-use skills (MS Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Need to be creative, adaptable and able to accurately work with a sense of urgency.
  • General knowledge of general laboratory best practices, highly proficient in ability to document and work within GMPs and SOPs.
  • Ability to effectively follow-up and handle multiple projects with strong personal time-management skills.
  • Keep all company information confidential and protect proprietary information.
  • Understand the importance of interpersonal skills and the ability to work with multiple departments throughout the company in a positive and efficient manner.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in our refrigerated warehouse with 50° F temperature-controlled zones.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. with or without accommodation
  • Position requires sitting, standing, walking and bending, squatting, and crawling on a regular basis
  • Travel between company locations, including Canada may be required.
