Job Summary (See the Summary of Responsibilities for a comprehensive list of duties):

The Quality Assurance supervisor is a critical part of the food safety and quality system who manages team of QA technicians and a QA lead technician. The supervisor ensures all products meet or exceed expectations through instilling a food safety and quality culture within the facility.

The role is a very hands on, highly interactive role in a fast paced, ever changing production environment. The ability to quickly assess risk, lead a team to a decision point and ensure proper execution of identified actions are critical skills required to perform this role. The ability to identify opportunities and execute plans for continuous improvement is highly desired.

Take a proactive role in assuring safe, quality products are produced by immediately addressing any safety or quality concerns.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Perform assigned supervisory HR functions (Hiring, Scheduling, Payroll, Professional Development, Work Performance)
Develop efficient team structure while conducting hiring activities and scheduling of all team members.
Lead development and implementation of Quality Assurance Training Program (QA and Plant Team Members)
Monitor team member performance through monthly performance goals and development plans for each team member.
Manage department to ensure team goals are delivered
Monitor and drive team and individual development by managing department performance objectives.
Responsible for developing, implementing, and reassessing the food safety and quality system (HACCP, GMP, Sanitation (SSOP), Recall/Traceability, Allergen Control, Foreign Material Control, Temperature Control, Supplier Approval, etc.)
Responsible for leading root cause analysis investigations for internal incidents and customer feedback in addition to closing identified actions within agreed upon timelines.
Analyze and prepare data in order to strategically plan and effectively execute department meetings in order to drive continuous improvement within the facility (CAPA, Production/QA, Maintenance/QA, Sanitation, Product specification reviews)
Responsible for internal audit program planning, execution and follow up.
Prepare team, programs and documentation for annual GFSI and organic facility audits (SQF, PCO) and customer audits.
Use auditing skills, data and available resources in order to continuously seek opportunities to develop and improve facilities process control points
Perform HACCP assessments for new products, process changes and annual reassessments
Develop and conduct annual HACCP validations.
Routinely interact with USDA FSIS inspection staff.
Oversee sample collection as required for microbiological or chemical testing (APC, Staph, LAB, EB, Fat, Moisture, Protein).
Oversee paperwork audits to ensure accuracy and compliance to all food safety and quality programs.
Perform other duties and as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager
Qualifications and Experience:

Due to the high volume of applicants, only those who meet the minimum qualifications will be selected for interviews. The qualifications are as follows:

4-year college education in a related science degree and 1-2 years&##39; experience in a food manufacturing facility OR equivalent experience.
Ability to assess risk and make decisions under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
Highly developed leadership, problem solving, relationship building, planning, prioritizing and organizational skills along with a strong desire to improve and develop people and processes.
Exceptional communication skills (Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus)
Critical thinking skills
Ability to read and interpret data and related documentation.
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Products, Supply Chain Management Software (NAV/Jet Reporting) and basic mathematical (Addition, Division, Multiplication, Percentages)
HACCP Certification preferred but not required.
Excellent time management skills.
