Summary of Position:

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Food Safety and Quality Management System is strictly adhered to in order to ensure Columbia Fruit, LLC produces a safe, legal and quality food product. This position requires a minimum of two years’ experience in quality assurance management in the food industry. The perfect candidate would possess the following: strong regulatory compliance background, positive attitude, good communication skills, personable, excellent leadership skills, detail oriented, realistic, good time management skills, knowledgeable and above all honest, responsible, and self-motivated.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • · Manage all aspects of the Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS)
  • · Schedule and conduct internal, customer, third party, and regulatory audits to ensure certifications maintained and customer standards are met. (FDA, BRC, USDA, Customer)
  • · Ensure that GMP and internal audits are scheduled, performed as scheduled and any necessary corrective actions are completed.
  • · Perform Mock Recall Procedures
  • · Manage supplier approval program and ongoing verification activities are in place to ensure compliance.
  • · Updating the FSQMS if Product Realization and Contract review generate changes or new information related to food safety.
  • · Communicate clearly and effectively food safety concerns that arise.
  • · Follow company policies and make sure that all products are safe and legal.
  • · Supervise Quality Control personnel.
  • · Keep current on changes within the food industry and government regulations.
  • · Provide oversight and management of on-site laboratory including the ordering of lab supplies, overseeing lab technicians, scheduling and overseeing annual proficiency testing, as well as other aspects of the laboratory.
  • · Responsible for directing the Environmental Monitoring Program
  • · Manage positive hold and release policy and implementation
  • · Create Certificates of Analysis
  • · Respond to customer questions and complaints
  • · Ensure calibration of measuring devices used in lab and production facility
  • · Ensure written policies and procedures are strictly adhered to
  • · Keep Director of Operations, Plant Manager and other pertinent department heads informed of laboratory results, complaints and other important information
  • · Work overtime as required
  • · Perform other tasks as necessary
  • · Initiate and record corrective actions
  • · Oversee company training program

Critical Requirements:

  • · Required Skills: Minimum of two years’ experience in quality assurance/management within the food industry.
  • · Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, clients, customers or general public
  • · Ability to manage and lead a team of Quality Professionals
  • · Strong organization and planning skills with ability to multi task
  • · Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and work with all levels of the organization
  • · Must be a solid, common-sense decision-maker who works well under time constraints in a fast paced environment
  • · Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • · Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook

Desired:

  • · Spanish language skills a plus
  • · Continuous Improvement Background (Lean or Six Sigma Certifications a plus)
  • · Experience within a GFSI scheme (preferably BRC) a plus

Education:

  • · Bachelor’s Degree
  • · PCQI Certification
