Position Summary:

This position oversees providing the company with supplies to keep it running as efficiently as possible. The Purchasing Manager will negotiate with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment, and services. This position oversees keeping inventory filled and making emergency orders when items are needed.

Essential Functions

- Negotiates with vendors for good and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.

- Establishes Purchasing Policies and ensure compliance.

- Maintain records of goods ordered and received.

- Develops new supply sources where vendors are inadequate.

- Constantly reviews inventory to make sure all supplies are accounted for, but no surplus inventory is accumulated to minimize production losses by reducing downtime. Operates a material staging and tool control system to optimize planning activities, organizes the sale and/or disbursement of surplus equipment.

- Input’s data into the computer concerning parts usage restock, inventory control, requisition, and report generation. Maintains warehouse authorized inventory values, ensures stock is turning at targeted rate, and consignments are managed.

- Traces delinquent arrivals from Purchase Orders Expedites orders for emergency parts and supplies by contacting suppliers and airlines to get immediate shipment.

- Reorders and purchases to be sure supplies and prices are numerous, and affordable.

- Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with US laws.

- Negotiates with vendors for good and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.

Education / Skills / Experience

- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred.

- Five plus years related experience and/or training.

- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for meeting the minimum requirements.

- Excellent Negotiating skills

- Proficient in ERP Systems

Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

- Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.

- Solid decision-making skills.

Physical Requirements

The employee is required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, climb, reach overhead and bend to the floor. Must be able to exert 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
