Product Manager Premix

Job Description

Reports To: Director Product Strategic Management EMEA Premix

Job Summary

Management of the end-to-end commercialization and pre-commercialization process for Premix EMEA, with the aim of bringing new materials/formulations to market without unnecessary delays. This will cover all new materials whether resulting from customer projects, market driven innovation or product variants, same as coordinating Premix Prime Support opportunities, all including phase in/phase out coordination if applicable. The goal is to develop and establish a robust standard process for commercialization. The role will convene a monthly review meeting of all stakeholders in the commercialization process to assess the KPIs and agree actions to continuously improve the process.

Supporting the broader objectives of the Product Strategic Management function including the development and execution of the Premix go-to-market strategy. This will involve working with stakeholders across the business including sales, purchasing, R&D, quality and operations. It will involve data analysis and presentation, market analysis, process enhancement, business risk assessment, marketing support, project management, business development and a range of ad-hoc activities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)

  • Supply and support data gathering (e.g. volume estimates, opportunity size) to prepare project pipeline decision. Perform master data/SAP setup functions assigned to the Commercialization manager and co-ordinate all other master data set up and master data maintenance across all functional areas.
  • Once pre-Commercialization/Commercialization is triggered, coordinate across all functions the development and input of all internal and external documentation, required to enable the product to be produced and sold.
  • Act as a Project Manager according project management standards in defined and approved projects.
  • Work closely with international PSM team to provide required documentation and information needed to register new products in developing markets.
  • Perform root cause analysis on KPIs and convene a monthly review meeting to agree actions to continuously improve the process.
  • Act as liaison for internal customers (sales, finance, customer service, purchasing, marketing, operations, quality) for day-to-day product activities and questions. Support knowledge transfer within the organization.
  • Align with Technical Services Manager defining actions/projects to establish data based knowledge transfer platform for Premix.
  • Vets new global market opportunities identified by the core team and provides recommendations.
  • Works with Market Research to more fully define the new target market.
  • Works with R&D to identify appropriate product(s) for promotion into new market.
  • Directs R&D as to prototype development needed to support sales efforts for defined and approved projects.
  • In collaboration with Marketing, develops a plan for promotion and market penetration.
  • Evaluates and implements best sales channel approach (Direct/Distribution etc.).
  • Provides training where needed (e.g. Sales, R&D).
  • Support regions outside EMEA.

Qualification & Experience Requirements

Education, Training:

  • Bachelor degree (BS) in Food Science/Food Technology in combination with economics a plus.
  • Must have demonstrably strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the food and nutrition industry.
  • Strong technical and business skills for management and commercialization of products in the food and nutrition industry.
  • Basic International markets experience

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills in managing development projects through the organization.
  • Ability to keep focused and solutions oriented in discussions to bring the team back on track.
  • Highly motivated and proactive with ability to think outside the box

  • Strong technical skills with excellent understanding of product lifecycle from concept to production of a saleable product.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment by identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Proven ability choosing appropriate course of action while considering related costs, benefits and deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form with co-workers, top management, internal and external customers including excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Must be oriented toward accomplishment of team goals and results focused.

Language, Computer & Numeracy:

  • Fluent in German and English, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Personality, Characteristics:

  • Must be a strategic thinker, highly analytical, with good problem solving skills and comfortable with assessing market/business opportunities understanding statistics.
  • Must be self motivated and able to work independently.

Travel requirements:

  • Domestic and international travel (estimated up to 25%).
