The Watkins Company has an opening for a full time, Project Manager located in Winona, MN. As a Project Manager, you will procure a variety of components used to build our high quality products. In doing so, you will be a key member of our product development team managing new product and product changes.

The duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • Support the organization’s goal of developing innovative new products that meet our core values of quality, service, and value which deliver incremental sales to the organization by leading new product planning and execution, identifying and assigning critical actions and communicating progress/risk within the organization.
  • Serve as the key liaison between Product Development and cross functional teams including Purchasing/Supply Chain, R&D, Creative Services, Manufacturing and Distribution to develop and launch new products.
  • Review new product projects objectively for feasibility of sales projections, profitability, timing, budget, and resources, based on cross functional knowledge and comparable items/situations.
  • Plan for transitions of existing items to minimize impact to the organization (minimize waste, including excess componentry, and finished goods).
  • Anticipate and prevent potential risks proactively to the timeline, and resolve issues as they arise escalating critical problems to the project team and management as necessary.
  • Assist in the strategic planning process and development of new product concepts, representing key knowledge of manufacturing configurations and organizational capabilities.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and establishes best practices within the new product process; makes recommendations to enhance/improve efficient workflows and foster team collaboration.
  • Provide oversight and direction to the department and employees in the operating unit in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures; coaches, mentors, and develops staff, including selection, orientation, and training of new employees.

Our ideal candidate will have at a minimum:

  • A bachelors degree in marketing, business, or related study.
  • 4 plus years experience working in project management or product management – preferably within a Consumer Package Goods (CPG) company.
  • Experience working in project management systems such as Wrike, Adobe Workfront, – preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience – preferred.
  • Demonstrate intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
