Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train hourly staff within the Service Centre in the area of production requirements, quality and the operation of production equipment
  • Facilitate the achievement of Company objectives in terms of our Brand Promise, efficiency targets and customer service objectives
  • Accountable for achieving operational targets and budgets including product yields, labour usage and related costs and productivity with daily reporting on same
  • Ensure HACCP requirements are met in areas of responsibility and enforce HACCP procedures while demonstrating a strong commitment to food safety
  • Effectively address performance concerns and discipline
  • In conjunction with the Production Manager, establish weekly shift schedules to effectively manage the production operations workforce and ensure timely communicate with all employees in the Service Centre
  • Promote a team atmosphere, healthy and safe work environment for all employees within the Service Centre, providing consistent and ongoing communication with employees
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance with Workplace Safety & Occupational Health legislation and reinforce safe working requirements and practices
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, all relevant legislative requirements and the terms of the Collective Agreement
  • Provides the operating teams with committed leadership on lean manufacturing principles and continuous process improvement techniques
  • Work with the Service Centre management team to identify annual, semi-annual, quarterly, and monthly objectives in support of the Centre’s tactical and strategic plans
  • Set a positive example for all production and operating staff, providing leadership towards meeting Company production, financial, and strategic goals and objectives

Typical Position Requirements

  • College diploma or University degree; or an equivalent combination of related experience and education
  • 5-7 years of previous leadership experience within a meat processing environment
  • Outstanding communication skills in order to lead, engage, and motivate individuals and/or teams
  • A thorough understanding of lean manufacturing principles and leadership applications within a manufacturing environment
  • Computer proficiency including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications
