Job Overview

The Hostess Brands Bakery in Columbus, GA is seeking a talented and experienced Production Machine Operator (PMO) to join their bakery team. The Production Machine Operator is responsible for operating machines. Candidates must be willing and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Must be able to communicate and work effectively in a team environment. Must be able to follow instructions (written & verbal), safely and accurately operate bakery equipment and maintain GMP standards. For this specific opening we highly prefer candidates with previous Machine Operating experience.

The Columbus, GA Bakery is a 24X7 operation thus one will work 12 hour shifts and may work any day of the week to include weekends. Four to five days per week is the typical work shift needed in order to meet the needs of the business. Candidates must be very flexible with their schedule to adjust to the needs of the business. Those candidates with manufacturing/production machine experience are highly desired.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Food manufacturing industry experience highly preferred

  • Previous safety training highly preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Organizational skills

  • Read and follow formulations

  • Calculating batter time and length, ability to record batter and exceptions, compute exceptions

  • Ability to watch two machines and know what stage of mixing each is in

  • Ability to make batter adjustments, add weight together (ounces & pounds).

  • Ability to identify ingredients in and out of packing containers, hearing, understanding instructions and seeing

Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing Environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee must have the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, bend, reach, push, pull, twist, crawl, climb stairs/ladders, and be able to lift to a maximum of 50 pounds.

Machines/Tools Used:
Scrapers, box knife, bowl knife, scoops, bucket, thermometer, measuring cup, hair net and hearing protection. Safety glasses and bump caps may also be used.
