The Production Manager is responsibility for managing the flow of production, the Operators and activities. They are responsible for working with the Quality Control team to maximize throughput and efficiencies while ensuring the product is within the appropriate specification. Furthermore, they are responsible for ensuring that processing controls remain within control for HACCP and food safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with maintenance and production supervisors to ensure equipment is ready for production.
  • The Production Manager is considered a leader on the production floor.
  • The Production Manager operates equipment as required in absence of supervisors and operators. (Conveyors, Tunnel Freezer, Forklifts, etc.)
  • Oversees the production activities day to day and week to week.
  • Trains and monitors equipment, operators and supervisors.
  • Works with QA, QA Manager Assistant, QCs, Operations Manager, Laboratory Manager and Warehouse Manager to ensure efficient, and safe production runs according to customer needs and production plan.
  • Responsible for team leads and coworkers on the production line.
  • Responsible for weekly schedules and changes for production line.
  • Ensures that raw material and packaging are pre-staged and organized in advance for production runs.
  • Responsible for ensuring standards are implemented and followed.
  • Understands and follows company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Is on time and participates in weekly production team meetings.
  • Ensures that supervisors are performing assigned tasks correctly including start up, checklists, tool accountability, maintenance work orders, machine adjustment forms, work center organization/cleanliness and work order completion at the end of each shift.
  • Responsible to ensure that company equipment is being taken care of properly.
  • Responsible to ensure that work hours are in accordance with company needs and policies for production staff.
  • Participates in the company audit program as required.
  • Works overtime as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Initiates and records corrective actions.
