Backup: Plant Manager or Bottling Supervisor

SUMMARY: The Production Manger is responsible for the overall operations of the bottling, bulk, milling, mustard, and scheduling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Effectively and efficiently manage Filling production of the required daily/weekly/monthly targets in line with customer specifications, meeting quality and delivery expectations;
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance;
  • Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity;
  • Manage and evaluate machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime;
  • Coordinates or recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.
  • Manufacturing Direct and Indirect cost Responsible for effective cost management, inventory, and use of resources to support production demands and production materials.
  • Communicate and liaise with other departmental managers to ensure production targets are met;
  • Strive to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product lines;
  • Supervise employees in the production department;
  • Ensure the operation follows health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures (EPA, OSHA, and other lawful rules and regulations) to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors;
  • Provide motivation, support, technical expertise, and guidance to all employees;
  • Create schedules for employees to ensure optimum staffing levels;
  • Manage and evaluate machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime;
  • May hire, terminate, discipline, promote, or demote employees as warranted after consultation with the Plant Manager and Human Resources;
  • Perform job performance reviews and recommends wage adjustments;
  • Conduct training and submits SOPs as necessary;
  • Provide input and prepare the annual production budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards;
  • Responsible for achieving budget and forecast;
  • Drive process improvements
  • Provide regular status reports and capacity plan
  • Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for the area, and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department;


  • 3 5 years of related management experience within a food processing, bottling, liquid filling/blending and/or consumer goods manufacturing/packaging environment.
  • Bachelors Degree is required, MBA or equivalent graduate degree preferred.
  • Must posses the ability to work with all levels of employees in the organization.
  • Solid understanding of Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Maintenance, Transportation, Packaging and Safety,
  • Must be well organized, results oriented, & have effective problem solving ability
  • Must possess strong leadership & team building skills
  • Must be computer literate Microsoft Office Programs & AS 400 is desirable
  • Good organizational skills
  • Show good judgment and sound reasoning skills
  • Ability to delegate authority
  • Must have a strong floor presence and be able to interact effectively with people at all levels.
