  • Understand and support safety as the first priority
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, local, state, and federal regulations
  • Ensure the following facility programs are followed: Safety, Food Safety, GMP, Preventive Maintenance, Quality Assurance, and Sanitation

  • Coordinate and communicate the hiring of production personnel and lead people for the completion of proposed production schedule
  • Coordinate and communicate all information necessary relating to the usage of material and/or bulk product in the production of finished product
  • Understand each step of product flow through the entire facility and teach it
  • Know how to start, run, shut down, and CIP the entire process
  • Staff the production department with trained employees and communicate the sense of urgency with all employees that is needed in a manufacturing environment while maintaining costs relationships to a budget
  • Monitor the usage and waste of DFA&##39;s purchased items
  • Complete all reports for company management, vendors, and customers as required in a timely manner
  • Perform employee evaluations in a timely manner consistent with DFA policy
  • Develop performance improvement plans for employees as needed
  • Communicate and be aggressive in regards to cost reduction in all areas relating to the Production department (Supplies, line efficiency, labor, services purchased, etc.)
  • Ensure supervisory shift meetings occur daily
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area throughout the facility and office area
  • Ensure all annual training is completed in a timely manner
  • Take an active role in and support plant committees
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary or required by the Plant Manager
  • Safeguard and protect all company assets
  • Make decisions in a timely manner
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with customers, vendors, employees, and peers
  • Handle difficult situations diplomatically
    • Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance for the position and the situation
    • Monitor continuous plant operations in all areas and report deficiencies to plant leadership and resolve any operational issues
    • Develop, implement and update plant operations for all processes
    • Assist in implementation of plant safety programs
    • Serve in leadership role in absence of Plant Manager
    • Conduct daily floor rounds and interact with operational employees
    • Manage assigned employees, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and performance management. Maintain and promote positive employee relations in work environment
    • May work offsite at other DFA facilities and other outside companies, including travel away from location.
    • Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
    • Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)
    • Ensure availability to respond to emergencies or other unexpected operational requirements (i.e. nights, weekends, or holidays). Participate in on-call rotation

  • Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

  • Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
