Product Development Manager

 

We are working with a fast growing plant based food manufacturer that is looking for a Product Development Manager to join their team. (TBD - based on candidate). A background in plant based or an understanding of yeast & gluten structures is helpful.   This newly created role will coordinate with the Chief Creative Officer to continue their mission to develop delicious plant-based products. Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Responsible for all bench-top and prototype development
  • Will lead formulation changes as needed
  • Ensure optimal uniform quality across product line
  • Work with QA to establish specifications for all products. If quality issues arise will work with existing quality resources to identify root case and ensure issues are being corrected
  • Coordinate with Chief Creative Officer on pipeline
  • Manage ingredient/nutrition/label changes as needed
  • Manage trails and shelf life testing.
  • Improve and/or revise products based on new or developing consumer trends
  • Identify, research and monitor industry developments of potential new product technologies and/or processes that will benefit the company
  • Keep records as needed on formulation changes
  • Mange relationship with raw ingredient suppliers and help identify new suppliers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills/Qualifications (including but not limited to):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Or Food Engineering or BS in related field
  • Must have at least 5 years of CPG food product development experience with demonstrated success
  • Proven track record of developing and commercializing food products on your own or working with external partners to do so.
  • Able to create benchtop/prototype samples and lead trials and shelf life testing
  • Knowledge of bread, yeast and gluten structures is helpful but not mandatory
  • Should be passionate about the food industry especially plant based
  • Ability to work within tight simultaneous deadlines that involve many products in development
  • Organizational, problem solving, and decision-making skills are required
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment background checks
