What We Need:

  • We need a Processing Technician who is responsible for preparing ingredients and batch making in accordance with Chelten House Products SOP

What You Will Do:

  • You will maintain workstation cleanliness - includes but is not limited to washing down kettles, floors, and various kitchen tools
  • You will prepare ingredients for batch making - includes but is not limited to pre-scaling wet and dry ingredients, opening pails and buckets, preparing ingredient slurries, moving drums and totes, manipulating air pumps for kettle additions, and compiling manual-add ingredients on rolling carts
  • You will weigh and scale ingredients for batch preparation
  • You will verify manually added ingredients against the Formula Sheet to ensure batch quality and accuracy
  • You will make batches in accordance with Chelten House Products SOP - following instructions of Formula Sheets and WonderWare software to create high quality product within the defined analytical and sensory specifications
  • You will utilize hand jacks to move pallets of ingredients, drums, buckets and totes
  • You will communicate with fellow Processing employees to give and receive batch making direction
  • You will communicate with Packaging Line personnel during planned (Purges and Washes) and unplanned (Kitchen Downtime) events
  • You will complete HACCP required metal detector quality checks on a per hour basis.
  • You will be accountable for completion of all batches within assigned Kitchen Area - includes but is not limited to verifying ingredient quantities prepared by Processing Operators, validating functionality of valves, mixers and pumps, inspecting kettle drain caps prior to batch transfers, and partnering with QA team members to make necessary batch adjustments
  • You will need advanced knowledge in WonderWare system - includes but is not limited to manipulation of prop mixers, side mixers, valves, and pumps in a "Manual" setting, able to transfer batches from kettle to surge or surge to filler, manipulate heating and cooling components to kettles and surge, adjust Batch Schedule per the most updated Production Schedule, etc.
  • You will be responsible for providing direction and guidance to the Processing Operators in the assigned Kitchen Area to set the team up for successful batching operations - includes but is not limited to communicating steps in WonderWare for Operators to follow, providing guidance on ingredient preparation, instructing the movement of ingredients, manual pumps and other various kitchen tools, providing updated schedules and Formula Sheets to Processing Operators, etc.
  • You will be responsible for managing the flow of Processing Operations to ensure the Kitchen area does not cause any downtime on the Packaging Line - expected to partner with Processing Lead and/or Supervisor to re-allocate personnel as needed to maintain pace
  • You will operate in a flexible manner to support the overall success of the Operation.

What You Need:

  • Minimum of a High School Education
  • Adequate training and understanding of the WonderWare software
  • 2+ years' experience in a batching or blending manufacturing environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Professionalism, problem solving, attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with a strong dedication for success, taking pride in workmanship
  • Working effectively in a team environment, positive attitude
  • Participation in employee training as it relates to GMP's, Health and Safety, periodic technical training as it relates to internal development, active participation of Line Improvement and Optimization activities ensuring high performance of Production
  • Computer proficiency, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook etc.
  • Knowledge of food safety, HACCP, GMP and other quality programs
  • Ability to work in varying climates
  • Ability to work independently with high quality and productivity
  • Willing to work flexible hours and frequent overtime including weekends
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, equipment instructions, requirements and business correspondences.
  • Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds in a repetitive nature
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work in an environment exposed to milk, egg, mustard, peanuts, fish, sulfites, sesame, soy, tree nuts, and wheat allergens
