Job Description: Production Processing Manager

Summary

Established seafood processing company is looking for an energetic Production Processing Manager. Are you looking for a stable company that offers great benefits and competitive pay? Apply now! The right candidate will provide strong leadership, hands-on guidance to line employees within the plant, have direct responsibility for seafood processing, and will ensure production and quality targets are consistently achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Work and manage a team of production line members during an 8-9 hour shift.
  • Understand and maintain all HACCP and GMP standards for the production area to include: CCP’s, SSOP’s, PPE, and all other rules and regulations.
  • Know the quality aspects of the products to be able to visually check the product by following established procedures.
  • Learn to schedule products for production using company ERP system.
  • Lead the company’s safety program and OSHA compliance initiative.
  • Document transfers of raw material and packaging.
  • Responsible for verifying weights, measures, coding data, and other evaluations for product control.
  • Coordinate directly with Plant Manager on all concerns and ensure follow through on critical issues.
  • Must be able to work in a team concept and coordinate processing activities with sales, logistics, and quality control.
  • Pitch in a help with the work when necessary.
  • All other duties as assigned by the plant manager.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of previous supervisor experience or equivalent managing a team of line workers.
  • Recent college graduate with some supervisory experience will be considered.
  • Understanding of GMP’s, HACCP, and SSOP’s. Knowledge of BRC or SQF a plus.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards.
  • Must be able to work Saturday, if and when necessary.
  • Capable of lifting up to 30 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma with related experience.
  • Working environment can be warm and humid or cool and wet. Refrigerated and frozen spaces are used in operation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Work Environment:

  • Work in a schedule-driven 8 hour shift environment with a customer service orientation to support plant operations. Overtime may be necessary as workloads dictate.
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, and background testing required.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time and walk plant floors that could exceed one mile of travel per day.
  • The employee must have a full range of body movements including use of hands to handle or feel objects, computer equipment and peripherals; and bending, reaching, and crouching.
  • Must have command of all five senses, sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements in each area must be sufficient to inspect raw material, finished goods, and shift in focus from computer screens to close forms.
  • Strength: Is able to lift up to 35 pounds with regularity.
  • Must be able to understand and follow work instructions in English.  Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
