Principal Food Scientist
This is an exempt, full time position.
This role focuses on the development of better-for-you snack foods that will include bars, clusters, extruded snacks/cereals and other applications. Candidate should have expertise in formulating food products crafted to deliver health and nutritional benefits. Candidate should have an understanding of the nutritional composition of functional ingredients such as proteins (soy, pea, nut, etc.), plant-based ingredients (fiber, antioxidants, adaptogens, etc.), vitamins, minerals and others; experience formulating to optimize for the impact of these ingredients on taste, texture, interactions; and knowledge of the stability of these ingredients through processing and over time.
Serve as technical expert in targeted segment; develop and expand our application portfolio, formulate and make benchtop products; identify and source new ingredients; identify new technology areas and provide justified recommendations for selected area(s)
Collaborate with the internal team and lead/participate in cross-functional teams; share knowledge and train colleagues; may supervise direct reports and/or mentor other employees
Develop and maintain customer relationships; lead customer projects, including the development of formulations for specific customer requests; support customers throughout product lifecycle from ideation to commercialization/scale-up
Optimize new and existing formulations to increase margin and reduce complexity; develop formulations in a manner to continue supporting the overall growth and profitability of the organization
Project Management - capable of planning, coordinating and owning the efforts to accomplish a successful project

BS/MS with 10+ years of experience (Food Science or related); PhD with 5-7 years of experience; High School Diploma or Associate Degree with 15+ years of experience
