Position Summary

The Principal Engineer - Snacking & Beverages plays an integral role within our supply chain and is accountable to improve the overall technical health of our facilities. Objectives of this role include but are not limited to the following: driving improvement in reliability, increasing plant capacity and/or capabilities, supporting continuous improvement strategies, developing and/or improving equipment and construction standards, introducing new technical innovations, reducing manufacturing costs, improving food safety and quality, and reducing risks to employee health and safety. The role will support divisional capital initiatives including providing technical solutions, leading design reviews, and assisting with the commissioning, qualification and validation phases. Additionally, the Principal Engineer will provide root cause problem solving to address divisional hot spots and help to deliver against the organization&##39;s sustainability targets all while growing their own technical skills. These objectives will be executed by leveraging team members including external and internal resources, by influencing cross-functional stakeholders, and by effectively resolving issues and managing conflict. The individual must have a good working knowledge of technology employed in the food industry.

Position Responsibilities:

The Principal Engineer will be the following for the Snacking & Beverages Division:

  • An effective communicator and a leader of cross functional resources
  • Accountable for insuring cost reduction and sustainability objectives are delivered
  • A generator of ideas to deliver against supply chain and business objectives
  • A technical resource that provides subject matter expertise including leading teams through root cause problem solving efforts and developing solutions to support product growth and innovation
  • Expected to lead and/or support multiple initiatives simultaneously across several sites in the US and/or Canada
  • Required to interact frequently with leadership positions within and outside the supply chain function
  • Forming, managing, and maintaining relationships with key equipment vendors, construction contractors, engineering services contractors
  • Working with local, state, and/or federal government agencies and co-manufacturing organizations


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • BS in an Engineering discipline
  • 6+ years of progressive engineering experience with key focus in leading impactful technical initiatives
  • Broad based technical proficiency and highly evolved tactical skills
  • Proven skills in project management, negotiation, communication, and technical problem solving
  • Comfortable to communicate, present & influence Sr. Leadership on key technical issues
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate with functional groups, external resources, suppliers and consultants to achieve project objectives
  • Communicates complex technical information in an easily understood format to various levels of management and Senior Leaders
  • Continuous improvement mindset, willing to challenge current processes
  • Must be self-motivated and driven
  • Demonstrated track record of driving substantive improvement in cost reduction, reliability, labor, and/or material loss reduction
  • The Principal Engineer must understand sanitary design and construction best practice


Education:

Bachelor&##39;s Degree Required- Type: Engineering or related technical field
