Description:

Our Food Manufacturing client is seeking a strong Electrical/Controls/PLC Engineer for their facility south of Fresno, CA. Specifically the hiring manager said they are looking for someone with system design experience specific to the industrial control architecture and writing PLCs from scratch. Responsibilities include, Propose alternate control strategies as required for consistent or beneficial designs. PLC programming of new and existing Allen-Bradley products. Develop Allen Bradley and GE PLC solutions using a variety of applications and tools. Development of Intellution FIX32 & IFIX HMI screens, or equivalent.

Summary of Job:

  • Lead control, instrumentation and automation projects, both new installations and retrofits, that improve safety, quality, production, and reduce cost in the manufacturing plant
  • Work closely with manufacturing team to troubleshoot and resolve control systems issues
  • Support technicians with advanced problem-solving and skill training
  • Instruct and train all team process engineers and die setter in "real time" trouble shooting techniques. This includes basic electrical, mechanical and pneumatic functions of the robot and connections.
  • Develop, organize and improve spare parts inventories.
  • Monitor and upgrade industrial system servers for all controls needs including backup maintenance.
  • Design electrical control systems and create control schematics, loop diagrams and documentation.
  • Edit electrical layout drawings to reflect control panel and device locations.
  • Develop control loop diagrams for all control loops. Provide as-built mark ups after start up.
  • Propose alternate control strategies as required for consistent or beneficial designs.
  • PLC programming of new and existing Allen-Bradley products.
  • Develop Allen Bradley and GE PLC solutions using a variety of applications and tools.
  • Development of Intellution FIX32 & IFIX HMI screens, or equivalent.
  • Schedule and coordinate programming simulation with programmers, production staff, and maintenance staff.
  • Provide technical support and system upgrades.
  • Participate in the advanced product quality planning activities for the development of control plans.
  • Provide technical support for the production floor on a daily basis to meet production efficiency goals.
  • Initiate and participate in continuous improvement, including cycle time reductions, and root cause analysis.
  • Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems.
  • Integrate robotics with peripherals, such as welders, controllers, or other equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in an applicable Engineering or Technology field preferred
  • 5-10 years of hands on experience programming PLCs in a manufacturing facility
  • Knowledge of industrial machine control circuits and components
  • Knowledge of electrical schematics design
  • PLC/HMI
  • Strong Project Management
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Software/script development and/or database experience
