Ensure facility compliance with all safety requirements according to policies, procedures, and regulations, including Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in order to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for all employees and utilize environmentally sound practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and procedures reflect current federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA) and align with DFA standardized procedures
  • Ensure consistent implementation and enforcement of EHS policies and procedures across all levels of the facility
  • Ensure all staff is adequately trained in their responsibilities with applicable EHS policies and procedures
  • Prepare and implement safety policies in compliance with federal, state and local regulations, especially OSHA
  • Conduct accident investigations for all work-related injuries, incidents, and near misses. Provide root cause analysis and corrective action to local plant management, DFA Corporate Insurance, and safety groups
  • Serve as liaison to plant leadership for safety committee
  • Work with DFA safety compliance and any required consulting team in preparation of environmental permit applications. Assist plant leadership through extensive subject matter knowledge
  • Ensure all safety inspections and monitoring are completed appropriately and timely. Perform regular periodic safety and health plant audits
  • Ensure timely completion of all safety monitoring, compliance, and reporting activities (EPA and OSHA) in conjunction with DFA plant leadership. Conduct investigations of any safety concern, including completion of root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Administer and coordinate plant security program
  • Maintain all required documentation to satisfy all safety regulatory agency audits
  • Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
  • Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)
  • Work schedule includes availability by phone at all times as assignments or circumstances may require response with little or no notice outside normal work hours
