An Employee Owned Company Fabrication Knifer Person To: ________________________________________ DATE: ___________________________2020 From: Superior Farms Human Resource Department POSITION/TITLE: Knifer Person FLSA Status: Non-exempt Classification: Full time, Regular DEPARTMENT: Fabrication REPORTS TO: Fabrication Manager POSITION SUMMARY This position requires this person to safely and properly cut the product into small pieces and that the quality of the products is maintained by processing it in accordance with the company’s guidelines for this position, as well as USDA rules, regulation, and requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Ensure that the piece of product are free from contamination i.e. fur, dirt, feces etc. If not it needs to be reported to the Fabrication Manager or Quality Control Technician. • Pull the product toward you and place onto cutting table. • Using 5”, 6”, 8” knife cut the product into the required specifications. • When finished place the trimmed product back into the conveyor. • Push finished cut products onto the conveyor. • Notify supervisors of problems that are not resolvable. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail • Excellent Communication Skills and Follow Up • Basic knowledge of materials, production processes • Well organized, with the ability to multi-task • Ability to work in various temperatures. • Sound judgment, problem solving and common sense thinking skills • Basic understanding of GMPs and HACCP • Ability to work early hours, overtime, weekends and holidays • Bilingual skills-Spanish/English preferred but not required • Computer Skills preferred but may not be required in certain areas. Physical Demands Standing: Frequently during assigned shift, in combination with walking. Could be 8 to 11 hours a day. Sitting: None Walking: Occasionally during of assigned shift. Walking in and around the department, to and from department, Indoors and outdoors. Lift/Carry: Frequently Weights 1-50lbs. Some projects allow for lifting that might exceed 50lbs when using both arms. Carrying Required: none Push/Pull Frequently during assigned shift. Using both arms exerting force to push or pull product etc. Bending Occasionally during assigned shift. Self-paced activity, minimize bending with attention to body mechanics. Kneel/Crouch/Crawl On a rare occasion during assigned shift. Reaching/Handling Frequently during assigned shift. Self-paced activity, minimize bending with attention to body mechanics.
