JOB TITLE: Plant Operations Specialist

LOCATION: Athens, Wisconsin

REPORTS TO: Operations Director



This position is responsible for providing operational support in quality, document control, human resources and employee health and safety, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Preparing paperwork and setting up new hire training on Alchemy.
  • Initiating posting of available positions, including coordinating interviews and scheduling pre-employment screening.
  • Conducting or schedule training related to the human resources function.
  • Serving as the location contact for all human resources administrative tasks as required.
  • Coordinating updates of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for each operation as needed.
  • Maintaining all environmental/safety-related records required by corporate, regulatory, or other entities.
  • Conduct safety training and tracking safety training compliance.
  • Provide support to the safety coordinator position.
  • Provide support for the CBO program.
  • Administering all aspects of safety supplies inventory as appropriate.
  • Supporting the upkeep and maintenance of the KPI and Action Board functions.
  • Providing support for Vorne OEE monitoring and reporting.
  • Serving as a back up to office associates as needed in times of their absence.
  • Monitoring and reporting for the CCA and TNTA programs.
  • Completing administrative assignments as requested, including setting up My Project, releasing finished product for shipment, preparing certificates of analysis, preparing and shipping product samples, other data entry as required.
  • Completing plant-related administration, including editing and uploading work instructions and SOPs into repository, being a 1st or 2nd reviewer of assigned paperwork, initiating or closing out corrective actions, initiating and entering coaching deviation forms, reviewing and filing production related documents, with appropriate follow if incomplete.
  • Regular and punctual attendance and physical presence in the workplace.
  • Timely and accurate completion of duties.
  • Occasional travel for work, up to 33% of the time.

  • Computer Skills: Ability to operate all information technology related business systems, programs and applications in a manner that achieves efficiency, accuracy, and relevancy of information processing and reporting as it applies to this position.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as dictated letters or memoranda, invoices, company policies and various documentation, paying particular attention to grammar. Ability to process routine reports and correspondences. Ability to communicate effectively with employees.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Other Skills & Abilities: Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines. The ability to drive a motor vehicle, and maintaining a valid driver s license. Must have the ability to become certified in: HACCP, SQF Practitioner, PCQI and as a Documentation Specialist.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate.
  • Protective Equipment This position may need personal protective equipment that is appropriate for the job being performed, such as hearing protection, food safety clothing and other.


This position requires an Associate Degree in accounting, business or related field, or some college coursework and three to five years of job-related experience.
