Plant Manager

Responsibilities include:

Direct and manage all conventional plant management duties: plant floor operations, production planning, purchasing, product quality standards, food safety, staffing, employee safety, regulatory compliance, and maintenance.

  1. Plant Operations: Coordinate daily plant activities through planning, purchasing, production, warehousing, and shipping. Work closely with supervisors and team leaders to ensure optimal throughput and minimal cost.
  2. Strategic Planning: Work closely with Leadership Team to create and implement company’s strategic improvement initiatives and culture.
  3. Performance Analysis: Measure and update plant performance numbers and work with Leadership Team to improve them. Ensure non-conformities and failures are identified, addressed, and corrected.
  4. Maintenance: Ensure equipment, machinery, and facilities are functioning at optimal levels. Maintain existing or suggest improving plant facilities and equipment.
  5. Compliance: Ensure compliance with all FSIS, HACCP and food safety regulations, OSHA requirements, and all government regulations.

Skills and Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years managing in a HACCP regulated facility. At least 2 years working as a Plant Manager. Experience with Ready-To-Eat products is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HACCP & USDA regulatory requirements.
  • Strong, solution driven background in manufacturing and operations.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, growing environment.
  • Accustomed to adhering to deadlines and performing under pressure.
  • Aptitude for independent problem solving.
  • Ability to assign, direct and delegate responsibilities.
  • Diplomatic hands-on style of management.
  • Strong work ethic and pride in their work.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

The Ideal Plant Manager:

  • Extensive experience managing an FSIS inspected meat plant. Ready-To-Eat product experience is a plus.
  • Excited by the challenge of taking our existing operation and growing it to over $200 million dollar sales in the next ten years and the ability to share financially in this growth.
  • Excited by the quality of our products and the potential to take them into new markets and grow our existing markets.
  • Ability to handle growth and has the foresight to plan for needed changes caused by the growth.
  • Extensive FSIS regulatory and HACCP knowledge.
  • Ability to handle our FSIS inspector.
  • Motivated to keep employees happy, motivated and feeling appreciated.
  • Ability to focus on work (minimal drama in social/family life).
