PLANT MANAGER – Immediate Opening

A. General Responsibility

Responsible for all facets of the daily operation in a bakery manufacturing facility. Ensuing the consistent production of high quality bakery products while incorporating safety and sanitation standards. Very strong organizational, hands-on leadership and planning skills. 

B. Nature and Scope of Position

Is accountable for production, maintenance, and sanitation department results. Review, schedule, plan, and direct all operations of said departments in a safe yet efficient manner. Communicate, review, and correct plant performance metrics daily within a specified time frame.  Responsible for controlling spending, monitoring and approving expenses. 

C. Duties

  • Establish and enforce production, maintenance, sanitation, and shipping; includes baking and mixing procedures, formulation, quality control checkpoints, and the coordination of repair and cleaning activities to ensure the attainment of company quality standards.
  • Direct subordinates in achieving compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
  • Provides daily/ weekly/ monthly analysis of accountability; indicates corrective action, as required.
  • Ensures that grievances and other disputes are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Plan and direct activities related to food safety and legality.
  • Evaluate product quality on a daily basis and engage each department responsible for product inconsistencies. Analyze any data generated for downtime and efficiencies to minimize and eliminate lost time and poor efficiencies.
  • Review daily methods and formulation to ensure an efficient operation and consistent product quality.
  • Review and manage any personnel challenges that arise during the course of time.
  • Conduct daily walk through and line/ equipment food safety inspections.
  • Hands-on participative management style.  Visibility on the production floor is important.
  • Follows and enforces programs and procedures outlined in the Food Safety and Quality Manual to support compliance for Food Safety and other third party audits.

D. Qualifications

Working knowledge of computers, including MS office applications. Demonstrated ability to motivate and train employees within a team oriented environment. Must have excellent communication skills combined with the ability to quickly assess and accurately report the status of multiple, ongoing events, projects and situations. Able to train, evaluate, review, and discipline direct reports and assist in doing the same for indirect reports.

E. Additional Information

Must be physically fit enough to follow up on maintenance, sanitation, and production projects that may be above ground level or in confined spaces. Able to think on many different levels including scheduling, mechanical, sanitation and operations. Ability to wear and use approved, applicable safety equipment, as needed. Willingness to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
