Under general direction from the HR Director, the payroll administrator is responsible for all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization’s multi-state payroll processing objectives with a high degree of confidentiality. This position requires an extremely detail orientated person with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations. This position processes all payroll related time entry, tax deposits, reports, benefit deductions, W2s and audit document requests.


  • Prepare and process weekly payroll for multiple locations (in CA & TN)
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and irregularities
  • Responsible for payroll systems maintenance and updates, in accordance with the federal and state law
  • Maintain employee leave balances, benefit payroll deductions, and garnishments
  • Schedule Periodic audits to ensure compliance, benefits reconciliation
  • Shoe Program deduction accurate deductions
  • Review quarterly payroll tax reports for federal and multiple states
  • Comply with local, state and federal payroll regulations and respond to questions and special requests from regulatory agencies
  • Research laws and regulations regarding taxes and payroll withholding procedures
  • Maintain and administer 401k plan to include contributions and disbursements
  • Verification of employment
  • Assist employees with payroll issues
  • Assist employees with benefits and HR questions
  • Collaborate with HR with company events/functions
  • Train new hires on attendance policies and Time and Attendance program
  • Follow up with management on the meal penalties violations
  • Will be assigned HR duties as needed


  • Solid understanding of federal and state wage and hour laws including payroll, taxes, withholding, deductions and garnishments, knowledge of compliance
  • Hands-on experience in an accounting environment

  • Thorough understanding of payroll processing, procedures, and payroll tax reports
  • At least 3 years of experience processing payroll
  • Leadership skills and most importantly that all employees are paid in an accurate and timely fashion


  • Bachelor degree desired but not required

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 40 hours per week. Occasional weekend work may be required as work requirements demand.
