Buyer and Scheduler

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Prepare
and issue purchase orders and change notices.


Analyze
market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material
availability and prepare reports to customer service and sales.


Review
purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.


Design,
development and implementation of SOP&##39;s for procurement.


Proactive
planning of demand and supply.

  • Ensure
    adherence to corporate contracts and provide input to suppler improvement
    programs.


Work
with Quality Control to refine quality and HACCP programs with all key
processors.


Maintain
historical sales volumes and provide input to sales forecasting and with
suppliers to secure supply.


Maintain
complete production inventories with certificate of analysis on all
commodities.


Manage
all projects from grower certification to importation and packaging of
finished product.


Follow
company GMP&##39;s (Good manufacturing practices) and all other quality programs.

  • Responsible
    for ensuring work area is clean and organized.
  • Strictly
    adhere to all safety policies.
  • Wear PPE
    (Personal Protective Equipment) when required.
  • Commitment
    to ensuring that the products produced meet all food safety and quality
    requirements.
  • Prepare
    weekly production schedule which meets customer demand, maximizes plant production
    efficiency, and minimizes inventory.
  • Prepares
    information packages for the production floor when information is not available
    through the ERP system.
  • Assists
    in maintaining planning data in Excel or, when applicable, in Oracle Advanced
    Supply Chain Planning module. Maintains item master planning attributes and
    resource run rates.
  • Collaborates
    with planning to establish safety stock levels, determine optimal production
    run sizes and change-over sequences, and adheres to defined lead times for
    products supplied from responsible locations.
  • Participates
    in establishing production run strategy/strategies to support demand patterns,
    product profile, and plant capability.
  • Participates
    in a weekly review of the Master Production Schedule,analyzing released batch orders, planned
    orders and capacity loading to ensure schedules and support production
    execution and data flows.
  • Review
    and measure daily and weekly production attainment and inventory availability
    working, with Plant Production and Planning.
  • Creates
    and maintain reports for purchasing and planning analysis as needed.
  • All other
    duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor&##39;s
degree in business, accounting, or related field is preferred.1-3 years of relevant experience or
combination of significant relevant experience in a similar role required.

Experience:


Four (4) years related experience in
purchasing, production planning, and/or inventory analysis is required.; CPIM
APICS certification is a plus.


Experience managing supplier
co-packers is preferred.


Experience using ERP systems is
required; Oracle experience is a plus


Experience in an FDA controlled
environment is a plus.


Experience in food or other perishable
commodities is desired

Knowledge and Skills:

Candidate must have strong analytical skills and
MS Excel skills.High attention to
detail and strong follow-up skills are necessary.A solid working knowledge of MS Word and
PowerPoint software is needed.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross functionally
with various internal departments, stakeholders and supplier partners are key
requirements. High customer focus,
strong problem-solving skills, and ability to set priorities is crucial.Must be comfortable dealing with conflicting
priorities.

Travel Requirements:

Very minimal travel may be necessary to
various SunOpta locations and for meetings or other job related functions.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Approximately; 85% of work is performed in an
office environment. 15% of work may
involve being in the agricultural or manufacturing/plant floor environment.
