Job Title\: Operations Downline Operator

Reports To\: Production Supervisor


Operate Downline machines including Cap Applicator, Cardboard Packer, Accumulators, Coders, Print Heads, Photo-eyes, Line Controllers, Robot, BEMA, Robot Touch Pad. Ensure efficient operation of distribution equipment and support maintenance activities on a consistent basis. Follow written and verbal instructions to ensure quality and efficiency standards are being met. Assume responsibility for safety, quality and effective communication relevant to shift and plant performance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities\:

  • Complies with Good manufacturing practices.

  • Monitors and fixes faults as well as clearing any material jams in equipment.

  • Conducts required quality checks to assure standards are met.

  • Maintain clean and organized area around equipment

  • Maintains communications within production team ensuring smooth shift transitions, etc.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties involving area equipment

  • Perform routine maintenance on all DE machines

  • Support mechanics in appropriate maintenance activities.

  • Monitor raw material and supplies to ensure efficient production.

  • Relieve other production team members for breaks and absences as required including stackers and floaters.

  • Accurately prepares and maintains all area paperwork

Key Accountabilities\:


  • Follows all plant safety rules
  • Reports all accidents to the production supervisor
  • Serves an active role in the plant safety program by attending safety meetings, participating in monthly safety inspections and reporting any potential safety hazards to the safety committee or Production Supervisor.


  • Adheres to all Quality Assurance System guidelines
  • Follows SOPs to make machine adjustments, troubleshoot equipment, and prepare caps, glue, corrugate, lubricant and ink to insure the manufacturing of high quality codes, packs and cases.
  • Responsible for compliance with the HACCP program
  • Responsible for accurate documentation


  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

  • Cooperates with other shifts and the management team in housekeeping endeavors

  • Keeps all equipment clean in order to make it easy to inspect and detect defects.


  • As a member of the Production team, insures the effective shift communication and teamwork with the other operators occurs each scheduled shift

  • Maintains effective communication with members of the support group

  • Communicates thorough information to maintenance on any equipment issues as to facilitate troubleshooting and repair

  • Communicates well with all departments both up and downstream of downline on scheduled production or possible changes to the schedule to ensure efficient start-ups, turnarounds and reduce downtime

Teamwork and Training

  • Promotes and contributes to the development of teamwork among production team members

  • Assist in coaching and training employees as requested by the management team

Personal Development

  • Continuous improvement of knowledge of the Aseptic filling process and the entire production process both upstream and downstream of their department as it relates to downline.

High school diploma or equivalent required.


Entry level  willing to train

Knowledge and Skills\:

Working knowledge of business, computer and math, preferred. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a team-based environment, set priorities to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks, and make decisions under pressure.

A 24/7 36/48 hour work week will be considered normal. Extra hours, off hours, and extra work days may be required to accommodate new projects, product development, and other special situations.
