Job Summary

Hands-on, .Net software architect to envision and lead the implementation of short- and long-term strategy for enterprise-class web applications using Entity Framework, MVC, SQL, JSON, Telerik.

Play a key leadership role in the architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance of a set of ASP.Net-based enterprise applications and services. Lead other developers in strategic initiatives to keep the application framework current with technology trends and quickly respond to market opportunities with a set of reliable, high-quality, feature-rich web applications.


  • Proactively work with stakeholders, product owners, and business analysts to develop and document requirements, designs, and implementation plans for new features and applications.
  • Keep the vision that translates product requirements into synergistic software designs and leads other developers in implementation, actively contributing to the coding effort.
  • Analyze platform tradeoffs to define details of overall system architecture, infrastructure, technologies, and frameworks to minimize the lifetime cost of development, navigating tactical and strategic constraints and evolving the underlying framework to track best practices and emerging technology trends.
  • Review code of other developers and take full responsibility for overall quality, drawing on the breadth of experience to keep them on track, mentor them as needed,
  • Establish design patterns and best practices to catalyze the team and ensure the coherence of all aspects of code as integrated systems, maintain implementation priorities, and meet scheduled milestones.
  • Project manage cross-functionally as needed to keep development from getting stuck and clarify inevitable conflicts that arise.


The ideal candidate has the following background.

  • MS degree in Computer Science with ten years of experience or equivalent level of proficiency.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams of three or more developers to design, build, deploy, and maintain three or more large web applications.
  • Extensive experience with n-tier application architecture, data modeling, enterprise application patterns, MVC, Angular, Bootstrap, entity framework, ajax, CSS, .Net web forms, web services, TSQL, SQL Profiler, sub-classing Telerik web controls for additional functionality is also useful.
  • Reporting Services and PowerBI is a plus.
  • Experience with Visual Studio Team Services (Azure DevOps), Git, and Azure.
  • Detailed understanding of team dynamics throughout software development lifecycle processes including agile/scrum development, with an ability to introduce best practices.
  • Ability to lead application architecture discussions at both a system-wide and individual feature level.
  • Ability to work in a flexible environment that values innovation.

Work Environment

Most positions with FCID operate in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

Physical Demands

This is a sedentary role; however, some standing, bending, and lifting is required. This position is subject to lifting files and computer-related equipment (up to 25 lbs.), opening filing cabinets, and bending or standing as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Working Hours

Full-time positions require a minimum of 40 hours per week. Associates are expected to be available during “core” hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CDT. Some flexibility in hours is allowed and must be approved by your direct supervisor.
